I just rented this great house in Midtown Raleigh for $2700/month.  I initially met with the owners two months ago who were just finishing up construction on their new home.  They were a referral from another great client.  They gave me the grand tour of their beautiful home, asked questions about what it's like to be a landlord, and told me they would think it over.  The wife was not totally on board with the idea of renting their family home, and they decided to concurrently list it for sale and rent. I gave them my professional opinion on rents in the area and advised them to list for $2500/month.  They asked to try for a little more, and I agreed since there was not much else on the market.  I took some pictures, uploaded the listing, and took a few calls on the home.  I showed it t...

I often write about Lake Lynn, a City of Raleigh park that consists of a small lake and a 2 1/4 mile asphalt track around it.  I usually walk around the lake four or five times a week.  It's beautiful in all seasons! Recently I discovered a new addition to the Lake -- a box that proclaimed itself "Lake Lynn Journal."  Inside were two laminated pages that explained its purpose.  Apparently, journals such as this one are a nationwide movement, and everyone is invited to write an entry.  Also inside the box was a small spiral-bound notebook and several pens.  I sat and read the entries for a while, and then made an entry myself. Some of the entries were written by children, like four lines to a page!  Many entries talked about Lake Lynn's natural beauty and the wildlife -- ducks, geese, s...

When people are asked, "What is your favorite season?" almost no one answers "Winter."   Perhaps because I grew up winterless in Florida, I do love winter.  This picture was taken at Lake Lynn this morning around 9:00.  It's a color photo, not back and white; the water takes its color from the dark clouds ahead of a coming storm.   You can't judge winter by the other seasons.  Winter has a beauty of its own.
