Starting in September, most of the RTP commuters will have to find an alternate route to work. As with any growth comes some challenges. The new toll road will offer another choice to most of the RTP commuters from Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, South Raleigh and Garner. There is a half mile stretch of the NC 147 (Durham Freeway) spur that will be closed while work is done on the new road. The section that will be closing connects I-40 to T.W. Alexander Drive. Commuters will have to take alternate routes such as Davis Drive, NC Highway 55 and 54 but of course, you need to leave a lot of extra time if you have to travel through these highly congested areas during rush hour.
