My parents visited this past weekend from Dallas, Texas.  We all know that everything done in Dallas is done big with a lot of show.  Here in North Carolina we are down-to-earth, educated, sophisticated, and a little more "East Coast".   What better place to take my parents than a BBQ joint that has been preserved by time.  Yes, we made our way to Heron's at Umstead, but the highlight of my parents trip was Allen & Sons BBQ.  Well, my big city parents get bored of the North Carolina culture............until this past weekend.  My mother watched a show on The Food Channel Network  that referenced the best Barbecue joints around the country.  My mother was determined to find the Best Barbecue in the Triangle. If you haven't been keeping up with what is going on in Pittsboro it's time you did. There are currently only 3,000 residents in the town of Pittsboro today but not for long.  There continues to be a lot of noise that Pittsboro will be the next likely hot spot in the Triangle.  Pittsboro has sparked a lot of interest due to its recent population boom, its proximity to other Triangle towns and the amount of available land in the area.    Last fall I wrote a blog about the projected growth in Pittsboro and in March I wrote about the community of Pittsboro.  This small town isn't used to big developers coming in and trying to scoop up big chunks of land for residential and commercial projects.  Recently developers have proposed over a half a dozen projects that are causing controversy.   P...

Pittsboro has recently become the center of a heated controversy regarding new real estate development. Because of its proximity to nearby cities such as Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, real estate and commercial developers have taken an interest in Pittsboro. This is especially true for land to the north and east of the town, which are closer to the aforementioned cities. Briar Chapel, a planned subdivision for this area will have a population larger than any town in Chatham County. Based on the current supply of homes on the market Chatham County is a buyer's market. I attended a great presentation today at the Rams Club at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with all of the agents. A representative of a new neighborhood called The Parks at Meadowview came to town to tell us all about the community. What a fantastic presentation he brought!The area is a unique new triangle gated community with 950 acres and 740 homesites.  What makes this neighborhood so unique is that almost half of the community is devoted to open space, including 11 unique parks for resident families to enjoy.  Audubon International, a not-for-profit, environmental education organization dedicated to educating, assisting and inspiring people to protect and sustain the land, water, wildlife and natural resources around them, played a role in developing The Parks’ land ...
