As our beautiful fall leaves blow over the landscape, Christmas and winter lights are filling in some of the bare spots evident as our temperatures drop in our crisp, and beautiful, winter climate.  The snow machines are adding to the natural snowfall on our tubing mountain, and soon the mountain will be filled with people enjoying the thrill of the rapid rubber ride over the snow.   And of course we have the Cataloochee Ski Area right up Fie Top Road, minutes from the tubing mountain.  Perfect prelude to warming up by the fireplace!  Cataloochee Ski Area. Parades decorate our streets during this festive time of year in the beautiful mountain towns of Waynesville and Maggie Valley, enjoyed by young and old, visitors and locals alike.

Since its early days as a town over 100 years ago, Maggie Valley has attracted people looking for a cool alternative to the summer heat of the surrounding southern states. One of the highest valleys east of the Mississippi, Maggie Valley and the surrounding mountains are often 10 to 15 degrees cooler than even neighboring Asheville. The floor of the Valley sits at 3200' while the surrounding peaks reach well over 5000'. This difference in height can even emphasize the temperature difference even more. Those looking to buy a home in the Maggie Valley Real Estate area should familiarize themselves with these differences before starting to search for their spot in the mountains.Maggie Valley Real Estate and The Lay of The LandMaggie Valley's floor offers easy access and comparably mild wi...

Being somewhat obsessive about all of the above, I hope these pictures project the Western flavors that are apparent in beautiful Maggie Valley... if you look for them!  And maybe they will be a magnet for like minded cowboys.  Hunting, fishing, and horseback riding in the mountains of Maggie Valley, Waynesville, Cataloochee Ranch, Fines Creek.... A Home on the Christmas tree range! Where the deer and the elk do roam! Where you can work at Ghost Town in the Sky, just like Ranger Buck! And a cowgirl can show you some dirt.

Even though this is my first autumn living in Maggie Valley, I feel like I should have been here long ago.  The changes in the air, the landscape, and the animals are a joy to watch.  While living in Hawaii was nothing to complain about, there was no apparent change of seasons, aside from more rain at different times of the year.  It is not hard to be enthusiastic about selling real estate in a place that you love, such as Maggie Valley! Creeks and streams abound in our area.  You can wander through the forest and find them, or buy a home with a creek running through your property. Who wouldn't want to be waking up to views like this every day?
