They love their Franklin house!  Bob and Kathy Schneider met us for breakfast this morning at Joey's Pancake House in Maggie Valley before they headed back to Charlotte.  They are so happy whenever they are in this area and can't wait to get back.  We loved working with them and are so glad to be able to consider them friends.                       Joey's Pancake House is our favorite place in the world for breakfast. That's all they serve is breakfast and they've been doing it for 46 years.  Not only is the food and service always perfect but Leslie and I are great fans of awesome business models.  Brenda O'Keefe and her staff operate this business like clockwork yet still manage to make every guest feel like they are special.  They open at 7am and close the doors at noon.  Don't...

Garden season is here, and though it may be the number one hobby in America, it isn't for sissies.  Gardening is touch on the hands, skin and back.  Follow the tips outlined below for a welcoming gasrden that's filled with color! Every season brings a different set of chores in the garden. Spring is an exciting time for gardeners as preparations are made for the bounty and beauty of the garden as it awakes from winter hibernation. It can also, however, be a bit overwhelming to know how to prioritize your gardening time at this time of year. Tip #1: Wear long sleeves, pants, a hat, and gloves. And, even though that grass feels great between your toes, closed-toe shoes and sunscreen are a must.   Bend and lift with your knees and not your back to ensure you do not injure yourself. Tip #2:...

Saturday I enjoyed another photography class with Bob Grytten, and we were lucky enough to have great weather early in the morning, and to be greeted almost at the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with quite a few elk. They were grazing and seemed to be posing for us at times. Many people visit this area to visit the elk, as it just takes about 30 minutes from Maggie Valley to drive up the mountain and reach the entrance of the National Park. Early morning and late afternoon provide the best opportunities to see the elk.

These beautiful magnolias are blooming right in my yard. The crabapple trees are quite beautiful with their pink blooms, and even the apple trees have very beautiful blooms in various stages. I think the flowers were really ready for Spring, as we all were! So far we haven't had our 'normal' April snow, so maybe the 'snow Gods' feel we got enough snow during winter and are giving us a break this year in April.

Maggie Valley, Waynesville and all of Haywood County NC land sales are not unlike home sales … slow, down from the same period last year, and lower than in the previous 5 years. The selling $ volume, obviously, is down drastically. While a significant increase in land sales could reflect that the market has ‘turned,’ we have a 3-year inventory of homes already on the market to sell. Click to see larger chart. Source: MLS. The chart below provides a 5-year comparison to the 2010 Home Sales in Maggie Valley and Waynesville (and all of Haywood County) as of 03/29/2010. There were 1,133 active listings 03/29 in Haywood County, NC, on the market an average of 261 days. Average Listing $ for the active listings is $327,722. (Too many overpriced listings.) Average Selling $ Year-to-Date is $202,328. There are 46 In Foreclosure, Short Sale and REO listings in the WNCRMLS as of 03/29. (Click here to see them). Absorption rate/inventory is approximately 36.5 months (healthy inventory would be 6 to 9 months). It is taking longer to sell a home in 2010 than in the previous 5 years for several reasons, 1 significant reason for the longer ‘days on market’ being that homes are priced too high. The fresh snowfall Friday afternoon in Maggie Valley was so light and perfect that I really did look around my little Maggie Valley cabin for something I could make into chocolate sauce to pour on this bowl of snow. No chocolate sauce was found, but that Kahula and cream mixture wasn't bad! via dailybooth.com Related articles by Zemanta Reason My Market Reports Are Late ~ American Cowboy Magazine.
