Wine Paint & Canvas in Hope Mills, NC offered the perfect opportunity for a girls night out recently. We started out with four girls and life got in the way of half our group, but we still had fun. Who wouldn't have fun when you can bring your own wine, beer and snacks? For wine lovers, that awesome. I was a little hesitant about going to Wine Paint & Canvas because I have trouble drawing a stick figure, but the instructor walks you through step by step and it’s so easy...really. Plus, if you mess up or need help,  the instructor can assist you and get your painting back to what it’s suppose to look like. Not that I needed help, I witnessed it, seriously. Wine Paint & Canvas is very easy to get sign up or plan an event. There calendar is online and it shows what they are planning on pai...

Putt-Putt Golf Returns Home - Breaks Ground in Hope Mills   Putt-Putt golf finally returns to it’s original home here in the Fayetteville Fort Bragg Area.  It’s amazing when you first come to an area the amount of history it has.  I noticed the new Putt-Putt going up near the Millstone shopping center, and I said finally it’s back.    In the Fayetteville area many don’t realize that Don Clayton started the Putt-Putt Franchise in Fayetteville, NC where he created the first course, in 1954. He charged 25 cents per game, and in 1955 the company began franchising and expanding to new locations. In it’s glory days there were over 265 Putt-Putt locations in the United States.    Putt-Putt return is a strong sign of the area’s need for more entertainment for youth and adults alike.  Welcome ...

Gray’s Creek High School             Gray’s Creek High School is located in the southwestern corner of Cumberland County. Many say that it is a true community school serving the students of this growing rural area. The student population is just over 1200 students in grades 9-12, they are large enough to provide a wide range of opportunities for students while also maintaining a smaller, more personal climate where students can be seen as individuals. One of the programs offered at Gray’s Creek is The Academy of Information Technology (AOIT). The AOIT is a small learning environment that introduces students to the increasing career opportunities in today's digital workforce while equipping them with the personal, analytical, and technical and communication skills needed for these care...

South View High School The school I will be highlighting in the South View District is South View High School.  South View High School is located in attendance area four in Central and Southern Hope Mills as well as the parts of Parkton that lie in Cumberland County. South View is actually home to two academic programs, International Baccalaureate Academy and the Academy of Public Safety and Security. The International Baccalaureate Academy at South View High School is a rigorous program that challenges its students so that they can be prepared for college.  IB students are taught to think beyond the norm and see things from different points of view in order to better understand other cultures. Students in the IB program are tested in six different subject areas that make up the pre-u...

The dam is about finished and the water is starting to pool!  Soon, the Town of Hope Mills, NC will have the cherished lake that the town was named after to enjoy once again!  This event has been long awaited by the residents of Hope Mills, NC and the surrounding areas.  It's been a long time since the sun has set on the beauty of Hope Mills Lake.   Five years ago on Memorial Day 2003, a sudden and very heavy rainstorm centered itself over the Fayetteville, NC and Hope Mills, NC areas.  The storm dropped a deluge of rain resulting in the eventual demise of the earthen dam that once held back the water of Hope Mills Lake. The new dam is quite a concrete creation.  With the bill totaling around $9.8 million dollars, the Town of Hope Mills has began filling the lake and everyone that remem...

Peace of Mind       There is a wise adage: "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst."  This brings to mind a popular film classic based on a tragic, but true story, Titanic.  The ship was unsinkable, or so everyone believed, and for that reason there were not enough lifeboats to hold all the passengers aboard the ship in the seemingly unlikely case that everyone would have to abandon ship.  No worries, that was the luxury liner that would not sink, or so everyone thought until the catastrophic night that the ship hit an iceberg.  This story proves a sad point; no one can know with certainty what the future may hold, but you can prepare for life's little "what ifs."  With that said, when buying a new home, you must determine how much protection you will need.      Speaking specifically ...
