The Hickory Music Factory is now signing up students 11-17 years of age for their annual summer camps for the weeks of July 7-11 & 14-18, 2014.  The first of the two camps is the HMF Rock Camp (July 7 to 11). Throughout the week, the students will rehearse with their band and learn the essentials needed to perform on stage. There will be classes and clinics focusing on song writing, stage performance, music history, and, music theory. The week will end with the students playing a concert on Friday, July 11th at the SALT Block Auditorium 8 pm. All groups will also have the opportunity to perform at Highland Recreation Center for their Music Showcase on Sat July 12th and on the HMF Stage at this year's Oktoberfest in downtown Hickory.   Rick Cline's annual Steel Drum Workshop and/or African Drumming Workshop will be head June 23-27, 2014.  Rick Cline says, "It is an excellent opportunity for beginners to experience drumming with very low commitment. Participants will learn basic techniques, authentic song selections, and some history about the instruments.".   All instruments are provided by the Piedmont Percussion Program and Cline.
