Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital and Veterinary Emergency Hospital Hendersonville NC The last month I have spent at least a few minutes at the new Veterinary Emergency Hospital every single day. I feel so lucky that these Veterinary Doctors chose to place their clinic so close to my home. My one year old kitten got really sick, and took a real turn for the worse and I had to take her over there. Nobody could figure out what was wrong with her at first. She wouldn't move and stopped eating and drinking. She was on the way to deaths door and for days we were actually looking at putting her down with an unknown, lingering death sentence. But after a few days, and exam after exam, they finally discovered a very minute shift in the last two of her vertebrae. Just enough to expect wh...

City Hall Henderson County NC This is a beautiful building. Designed by Erle G. Stillwell, and completed in 1928 for the City of Hendersonville to house it's government offices. It is located at 145 5th Avenue East, right in the Heart of Historic Downtown Hendersonvile.   A walk through of this building will find some intersting archetectural designs popular in the 1920's, and the building has been very well maintained to keep the building in it's original style. You can read more about Erle G. Stillwell and about the many homes and building of his legacy. In this building you will find Meeting Rooms for City Council gatherings, City Offices and the Water and Sewer office for paying you bill. Here is how I spent my afternoon, walking in Patton Park in Hendersonville NC. It was a nice cool day. With all of the heat we have been enduring, it was so nice to have a day in the 70's and to be able get out in it. The park was full of activity by people of all ages. Here is a video of what I saw and heard over there today.

Your Alive -- Stay That Way!  Texting and Driving!  A great new aspect has been added to the Drivers Ed Class at East Henderson High School here in Henderson County, NC.  The kids are getting to experience the danger of what can happen when being distracted by being shown through example.  They run through a test with a golf cart and orange traffic cones.  First without texting and than again by being distracted with a text message from a friend and a passenger talking to them.  The result on the second phase of the test is many more knocked over traffic cones, which make a point. The Henderson County Sheriff's Office and a State Highway Patrol Trooper came to the school to help educate the students on the dangers of texting and driving.  So many tragedies and deaths have occured fro...

Hendersonville NC Gardening   With the rain we have been getting in Hendersonville the last 24 hours, if feels like everything in my garden has doubled in size overnight. I know it isn't true, but all of the plants are standing tall and the veggies are coming on strong now. I just picked my first three vine ripened tomato's and can't wait to cut them open and stuff them in my mouth. The new set of peas I just planted are starting to poke their heads up out of the ground and I am filling my baskets with produce every day now. Cucumbers and zucchini are especially good right now. How does your garden grow?

After a great start this spring with perfect weather for gardening, the last few weeks, or maybe longer, we have been ecperiencing extremely dry conditions here in Hendersonvile. I have had to break down and water my garden several times in the last few weeks. Yesterday we started to get some rain, and we have been very fortunate to see it continue all night. It is still raining today. Although I have a lot of running around to do today, I am so thrilled about the rain I don't even care if I get wet. I am happy that my vegitable garden is getting some much needed moisture. This should pop out the tomato's and peas and cucumbers and more. So happy rain day Hendersonville, NC!
