One day last week I had the pleasure of visiting the Clay Co Senior Center in Hayesville, NC when our local board of Realtors distributed gift bags to area seniors.   What a wonderful place with tons of opportunities for our area seniors!   The Clay Co Senior Center offers classes & activities to help our seniors stay active & healthy. Some of those activities include: wood carving, line dancing, walking club, ballroom dancing, wii bowling, shuffleboard & much more.   They also provide FREE weekly blood pressure checks by Mountain Home Nursing Service and have a mini fitness center.   They have a wonderful program called Meals with Friends, a congregate meal program for those ages 60 and older to have a hot, nutritious lunch while socializing with friends.  A home based meal delivery se... 06/23/2014

Jackrabbit Mountain Trail The Jackrabbit Mountain trail system in Hayesville, NC officially opened on April 30, 2011 and now provides access to over 14 miles of trails in the southern parts of Nantahala National Forest. Characteristics The trails travel along the shores and hills beside Lake Chatuge. All trails are open to mountain biking and hiking, and although the trails were constructed specifically with mountain biking in mind, they're a nice place to hike as well. These trails were constructed over a period of over 5 years in a "Stacked Loop" configuration. A main central loop, which is easy and nearly level, has junctions with several more difficult side trails, traveling to some interesting destinations such as ridgetops and beaches. A BirthDay In The Life of A Realtor       The day started off with sleeping late and then coffee in bed compliments of my special husband.  Our youngest daugher arranged a beautiful bouquet of pink roses for me and then surprised me with a really cool gift - my very own STAR! Yes folks, there is a star named after me in the constellation Aquarius!  How cool is that!!   It comes complete with a certificate and a website that I can go to and locate where my star is in the heavens.   We were anticipating a client arriving in town from Florida. The weather in Western North Carolina and Northeast Georgia is currently seeing some record lows.  When the temperatures dip this low on the thermostat it can wreak havoc on a lot of things.       Batteries for instance!   Every morning before I step in the shower, I step on the scale.  Not only is it a force of habit and helps in keeping me on track with dropping a few pounds after the holidays.  This morning I stepped on the electronic scale and . . . nothing. Seriously??  Ok, note to self - stop by the drugstore and pick up a battery for the scale.     As I stand there standing on the scale thinking it will magically resurrect itself, in comes our daughter.   She’s trying to leave for work and, yep you guessed it -- her car battery is dead.     About a month ago, while suffering with some aches and pains, I decided it was time to try Yoga.  Thanks to Google, I found a great studio a short distance from our house in Hayesville NC and have been enjoying classes two or three times a week.  But - more about the wonderful Sunrise Yoga Studio later.   Today the studio was offering a “Roots” workshop conducted by yoga instructor Rich Fabio from Asheville.  Roots is a yoga sequence with cutting edge alignment techniques coupled with powerful mind-body discipline.  Don’t ask my why I thought that a yoga newbie like me was qualified to attend this workshop.  Regardless, I forged ahead blindly and I am so glad I did. We have an accepted offer and now you want to see if you can get different terms for your buyer?  Really??  This is what happened a few days ago - you tell me what you think: A Buyer’s Agent brought an offer on one of our foreclosure listings .  After negotiating with the seller we came to terms and I sent the required addenda over to the Buyer’s Agent for his client’s signature.  When he returned the package to me he had changed several key elements of the contract (amount of earnest money deposit, closing date, etc).  He also sent a note which said “I’m sure there won’t be any problems with the changes, right?” WRONG!!!  The parties agreed to specific terms and, if you want to change those terms, then we have to start over again.  Which means I change the status of the listing back to... 01/23/2013
