I don't know about you but here in Charlotte, NC there is the first real feeling of fall in the air. Our weather is exceptional this time of year and the leaves are just beginning to change colors. Currently it is about 74 degrees and sunny. There is little to no humidity and at night the temperatures are dropping into the 50's. With the subtle chill in the air, it started to make me think about Old Man Winter right around the corner. Now I have never been a fan of Winter. Fall, yes. Spring, Yes. Winter however, I can do without. We need to start preparing our homes and notifying our clients about how important it is to winterize your home and yard. It can really add some valuable life to the longevity of your property. Perhaps in your next newsletter include a few of these winterizing ...

I had the pleasure of taking advantage of the fantastic weather yesterday here in Charlotte while dining outside at Eastover's Big Ben Restaurant. Big Ben is a traditional British restaurant and pub, with many different English beers on the menu as well as fish and chips (beer battered fish and fries), bangers (sausage), wallys (pickles), and scotch eggs (a boiled egg wrapped in some sort of meat, if memory serves). There are many other items on the menu that are less adventurous, but still delicious. The wait staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. The best part, besides the pints, is the large amount of outdoor seating. Surrounded by flowers, trees, plants, and string lighting, the patio area is the type of place you could spend an entire evening. Big Ben has one of the best ...

Charlotte NC- OUR Cardiac Cats! October 26, 1993 was an historic day for Charlotte NC (and both of the Carolinas) as our famed Jerry Richardson was awarded the 29th NFL franchise, the Carolina Panthers.  The Panthers team would be housed in Charlotte but, represent both North and South Carolina, being called the Carolina Panthers.Charlotte was a-buzz with the news and we rallied to support our newest professional sport.  A former player himself, Jerry Richardson has a true passion for football. He bacame only the second NFL owner to have been a former player.  To Charlotte and the Carolinas, that was a huge bonus to us as we were going through a major upset with our, then, professional basketball team, the Hornets, and were looking for an owner with a 'heart!'  We found a gem in Jerry R...

We all know that it seems like our economy is struggling. We can feel it, see it at the gas pump, hear it on the news. But what do economists look at to determine the health of a region? Economists look at jobs, homes to diagnose the Charlotte area's financial health, and these indicators are often related. The construction of new homes creates jobs for carpenters, painters, bankers, landscapers, and appliance sales people. And these employed people are consumers, keeping restaurants, and retail shops in business. Recently, the Charlotte Observer had an article that took an overview of the four key parts of the Charlotte region's economy, as well as what to watch in the months ahead. The key elements are jobs, housing, retail and commercial construction and highlighted below: JOBS Right...

When a dryer fire occurs in an apartment complex, a lot of lives are in danger and many people end up homeless, due to the negligence of one tenant   Charlotte, NC - When fires occur in apartment buildings, the results are most devastating.  Emilie Benvegna recently spoke at a landlords' convention where she displayed a model of a dryer vent system and showed just how easily a fire could start in the dryer vent.   Emilie explained, "Lint is very combustible.  When a dryer vent is clogged with lint, air-flow is restricted, causing overheating and eventually, a fire.  This is especially devastating in an apartment building where many lives are at risk."   Emilie Benvegna, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard in Charlotte, North Carolina, brought up a good point when speaking to the landlords and ap...

DRYER VENT CLEANING IS THE NUMBER ONE PREVENTION OF CLOTHES DRYER FIRES!  Many people overlook this very serious issue when they schedule seasonal maintenance on their appliances.  Most people know to have their furnace cleaned and to change their furnace filter, but too many overlook the clothes dryer.  Believe it or not, your clothes dryer poses a much greater risk of fire than your furnace!Dryer dos and don'ts: · Clean the lint filter before or after each load. Don't forget to clean the back of the dryer where lint can be trapped.  · The interior of the dryer and venting system should be cleaned periodically by qualified service personnel. Your Can Buy That New Executive Home in Charlotte NC! In this depressed home market I'm a bit surprised that there aren't more prudent executives moving up to the home of their dreams. Prices have never been better and they can make the move without incurring a great financial risk. Want to know one great way to do this? First locate the home you want via an experienced real estate agent and have them negotiate a "Rent to Own Purchase" on your behalf. Then list your present home to sell it. If you aren't in a position to pay the rental and the mortgage on your present home at the same time perhaps you can rent it out until it sells. This really is a risk free way to get the home you want while the rest of the potential buyers are sitting on their hands. If you would like to explore this...
