A new Bozeman healthcare complex, with a new hospital coupled to a medical campus, is slated for Bozeman's west side, with "boutique doctors," a "life stream and healing garden," and a walkable, resort to be named, Spring Creek Village Resort, with shops, more than 40 restaurants, a hotel, offices, and loft condominiums surrounding a glass square with ice-skating in the winter and movie venue in the summer. Though no formal application has been submitted, approximately 50-acres will be developed on Huffine Lane between Cottonwood Road and Ferguson Avenue. The rezoning, from Business Park District (BP) to Urban Mixed Use District (UMU), of 31 acres within the 50-acre area that will become Spring Creek Village Resort, was approved this week by the City of Bozeman, Montana Commission. Tenants associations are common in urban areas but practically nonexistent here in Montana, so this is a first. Susan Floerchinger who helped form this association hopes this association will let other tenants know they have rights. The tenants of her apartment complex, Darlington Manor in Bozeman, Montana, hope the association they have formed will allow them to be heard when expressing their grievances to management and owners. Statewide some apartment complex owners live hundreds and even thousands of miles from their complexes, making communication with tenants difficult. Floerchinger hopes this new association will also serve as an example for Montana's other tenants. What do you think? Read More at the Bozeman Daily Chronicle.

Everybody Loves Bozeman - Special to DCD HomeSome people from Bozeman and Gallatin Valley think their hometown is pretty special, but this isn't just misty sentimentality. Experts from around the country with far-ranging reasons are in agreement. Bizjournals ranked Bozeman number one for small town's best quality of life (www.bizjournals.com). It wasn't a casual assessment. Intrigued that more than 1.7 million people moved from metropolitan areas to small cities and rural areas, Bizjournals rated the 577 micropolitan areas in the US (grouped population centers ranging between 10,000 to 50,000 people) with strict and quantitative criteria, and Bozeman topped its 576 rivals. The criteria ranged from percentages of people with higher education, population and per capita income growth, a st...

Bozeman has a new mayor, Kaaren Jacobson, sworn in on January 7, 2008. In an effort to pay for Bozeman's growth, she stated her desire is to increase road impact fees, which is contrary to a recent vote by the former city commission to reduce impact fees to 65 percent of the full rate, which is $9,172.  More than 100 people packed the Gallatin County Courthouse not only to listen to her state of Bozeman address but to also watch the swearting in of the 2008 city commission.
