WE hit this small town parade every year. It is close to our cabin. Sad part, we don't see the high school marching bands anymore.  No matter what parade, if there is one we are lucky. Parades have become and have been for years a place to advertise your wares and tout your Political ambition. For us, it has been a candy collecting time.  Sometimes even a useful trinket comes along. But, we go every year...it's a tradition! 07/02/2014

The hoop-la that surrounds many 4th of July doings many times over shadows the real issue. Moose Lake did well to remind us what this day is all about.  Yes, there was a party, but there was also remembrance of those that fought for us so many years ago. This little coffee shop in the small town of Moose Lake is a variety store of sorts. Besides being a coffee shop, it is also a consignment store for a lot of small dealers, The 4th of July parade is the busiest day of the year for them.  Stop and visit if you ever travel through. 07/04/2012

I ran into a great little place while on a weekend get away. Joe Jitters coffee shop.  They have all the makings of you standard coffee shop with both hot and cold drinks.  They also have a consignment shop that will keep you looking and thinking for a spell. Joe Jitters is located in Moose Lake, Mn.  I am not a big coffee shop person,so for me to tell you to stop if you are in the area...take my advice. Located in the heart of downtown, there is a lot more to see so plan a couple of hours. 09/04/2011

Well, many people do anyway.  I thought I would share a few of my favorite photo's from the Moose Lake, Minnesota parade from this year.  Moose Lake is near our cabin and we go to this great small town parade most every year.  First the color guard.  Notice the hats off and hands on the heart.  It was this way as far as you could see with everyone standing.  This community still understands!!!!  A community band.  A bunch of local folk playing whatever instrument they know how.  Were they good?  Does it really matter?  They were playing for their community!!!  This was my favorite.  This jalopy was built by the owner in his garage.  Much of it is PVC pipe.  It has peddles and a small gas engine!  This shows just how big our fish get here in the Nort land.  We need a tow truck to haul th... 07/07/2010

This was the 3 rd parade this summer, and unlike the others, it had a great hometown feel.  Town...Moose Lake, MN.  The other two parades had every political candidate running around shaking hands and being jsut plan Pains in the Nice Weather!!! David received a Parrot for his birthday.  The Parrot had a bad attitude and a worse vocabulary.  Every other word was an obscenity. Those that weren't expletives, were to say the least , rude.  David tried hard to change the birds attitude and was constantly saying polite words and playing soft music, anything he could think of. Nothing worked.  He yelled at the bird and the bird yelled back. He shocked the bird and he only got more angry and more rude.  Finally in a moment of desparation, David put the bird in the freezer...just for a few moments.  He heard the bird squawk kick and scream, and then suddenly-there was quiet.
