As a kid I grew up on the farm.  We did a lot of things that were, well, let's say the law wasn't in agreement with us.  Nothing that harmed others per say, just timing issues with the local conservation guys usually. A couple of young lads were fishing in one of their favorite spots at an out of the way lake.  All of a sudden, from behind the bushes, out jumped the game warden.  One of the boys dropped his pole and took off running.   Seeing this, the Game Warden was hot on his trail.  After about a 1/4 mile or so, the boy stopped.  He stood there bent over trying to catch his breath. When the Warden caught up to him he said.."All right young man, show your fishing license." The young man grabbed his wallet and pulled out his license and gave it to the Warden.  "Son, you don't have to ...

The phone call was for a piece of land that I have listed.  "Can I move my older Mobil home on it?" "No I am sorry, but zoning does not allow that in this area."  "Ok, but I am still interested in the land." "Who do you have your financing set up with?"  I am hoping to do a contract for Deed," was the reply.  "I was foreclosed on 2 years ago, so bank financing is a problem.   It was a voluntary foreclosure. But, If I find a house, I have my GI Bill." "Do you know what your credit score is"...still probing for some answers. "Not great, and I have a new medical judgment also.  That is why I am looking for a contract for deed. You can usually get one for nothing down." "Really...from what part of the world are you from.  That is a very rare occurrence.  Most want 20% and more and they want...

My clients told me they were not afraid of work.   They said ..."We can paint and clean carpets."  In a few days we can have a house ready to move into. OK...What dream land are you living in. Reality check!!!  I take them to a Fixer Upper.  "Hey, this place is a dump!"  I was told.  "Yes it is...This is a fixer." "No, this is a remodel job."  OK...Here in lies the problem.    "Now this is a fixer upper.  It requires a large amount of tools and skill.  A lot of material to bring the shack up to livable condition." "What you are looking for is a home that needs a little TLC.  Paint and cleaning carpets is a TLC job.  Not many tools needed and in a week or 2 you should be all done." With that understanding, we started looking at appropriate houses. When looking for a house, be very specif...

WOW, what a fast week. It has been busy and I won't complain.  It does mean that my weekend fishing tip will be postpones.   But, here's a short story for those of you getting to the lake. Jim had a tough day of fishing.  He sat in his boat under the hot sun and didn't catch a single fish.  On his way home, he stopped by the supermarket and ordered 3 catfish.  He told the guy behind the counter... "Give me 3 of the largest ones, and then throw them to me." "Why do you want me to throw them to you", asked the guy? "Because, I want to be able to tell my wife that I caught them." "Well, Okay.  But I suggest that you take orange roughy." "Why is that" asked the fisherman? "Because, your wife was in here today, and said that if I came in I should tell you to bring home orange roughy because ...

For much of the Nation the heat and humidity has been nearly unbearable.  It is hard on people with respiratory problems and many of the very young and old. But, it isn't all bad news.   I have seen families hit the beach together.  Yes, young and old at the same beach, not the kids in the water and the parents at the picnic tables.  For some families, the heat is a great thing. It has caused them to spend time 'together'.  It has also brought friends together for some great fun.  These teens were on this raft for almost 2 hours.  I had staked out a prime place to watch the fire works and take a reading brake.  They were there before I got there and stayed out there until the show was over. So, while this heat is bad for some...it is good for many others in many ways.  Stay cool and try...

After a fun weekend and one that had a scattered amount of business, this morning has been a catchup day.  I have made all he calls, now it's hurry up and wait for the return calls.  So, I thought being the 1st day after a Holiday takes some motivation to get moving that some light humor would help. Amazingly Simple Home Remedies. 1) If you are choking on an ice cube...simply drink down a cup of real hot water. Presto, the blockage will simply remove itself. 2) Avoid cutting yourself when preparing vegetables...Have someone else hold them while you chop! 3) Do you have High Blood Pressure?...simply cut yourself and let it bleed for a few minutes. That will relive the pressure.  Be sure to use a timer so you know when to stop the bleeding. 4) A Mouse Trap set n top of your alarm clock......

I am starting the holiday out early.  Partially because I am working off and on all weekend, so I am going to spend my holiday hours a bit more spread out.  But, we all need a boost sometimes to get rolling and I believe this will do it! 2 Irish Nuns were immigrating the the United States.  Upon their arrival, the first one says... "I hear they eat dogs here."  To which the 2nd replies, "That is odd, but, if we are to live in America, we may was well do as they do."   While sitting on a bench they hear a vendor yell, "GET YOUR DOGS HERE!!!"   "Well, we may as well dive right in" one of them said. They walk up to the vendor and say, "2 dogs  please."   The vendor wraps each dog in foil and hands them to the 2 Nuns.  They go back to the bench they were sitting at... The first one opens he...

I think that many Realtors get this type of a call or request..."If you find anyone looking for my property,  I will pay a commission. Now, I feel that is very kind of this seller.  But, how am I suppose to find someone when I really don't have access to the property. Potential sellers..here are a few things you need to know. 1) If I know of someone looking to purchase your type of property, I will show them, but not without some kind of written agreement. 2) Before I do show your property, I am going to require all the proper disclosure forms be filled out as if the property was listed. 3) Without a legal listing contract...It is illegal for me to market your property in any shape or form. 4) Without your home being listed, it CAN NOT be put onto the MLS.  Without the MLS exposure, you...

Now, this is a cure I could handle.  I just don't get Migraines... A guy goes into a Dr.'s office suffering from migraines.    When the Dr. does a medical history on the guy, he finds out that he has had every treatment known to man and with no results. "You know, Medically, there isn't anything I can do, but, I also suffer from migraines.  I am going to tell you what I do.  When one hits, I go home and take a hot bath, and my wife wipes my face with a hot cloth.  After a while I take her to bed and  l make love to her.  In no time at all, my migraine is gone!" "Try it and come and see me in 6 weeks." After 6 weeks the man sees the Dr.  "Doc, you were right."  This is the first time anyone has helped me with my problem.   By the way...you have a very nice home!"

I have been stopped a few times in my life.  Some were innocent happenings for the most part, once I ALMOST LOST,  and missed a stop sign.   Here are a few things that I didn't say to the nice Policeman... I can't reach my liscense unless you hold my beer. (OK in Texas) Sorry officer, I didn't realize my radar detector wasn't plugged in Aren't you the guy from the Village People Hey , you must have been doing 125 to keep up with me! Are you Andy or Barney. I thought you had to be in relatively good condition to be a police officer Your not gonna check the trunk are you? I pay your salary Gee Officer that's great, the last officer only gave me a warning also. Do you know why you pulled me over? Ok just so one of us does. I had a friend not in the industry ask me about my blogging.  "I know you do it, does it pay well?" "Well, that depends" was my response. "I don't get paid directly for doing a Blog."    "What?" as he looked at me with disbelief.  "Then why do it." I first started Blogging as a way of gaining business.  Then as a way of finding out information.  Then friends developed and I blog many times to keep in touch with my friends. "Wouldn't it be easier to be on Face Book?"  he laughed. "NO"!  Face book is more of a what are you up to type social setting.  Nothing wrong with that.  But my time is short and Face Book just doesn't appeal to me.  I Blog on a site that allows me to interact with my peers and I can get honest answers from them, even if they don't agree with my thoughts. "I post info...

Ok, as most know, I am not a spring chicken...closer to October if anything.  I love the outdoors and pride myself on the wildlife and nature in general that I take time to see.   While visiting in-laws in Northern Minnesota, I am always on the lookout for something different. I was especially looking for the Showy Lady Slipper. I was told that they are hard to find but they are in the area.  I looked and looked everytime we drove around.  We were in a fairly remote area, so I thought my chances of finding one would be good.  But alas, I was on my way home and had not seen a one.  3 miles from our hosts house, THERE!!! A Lady Slipper!!!.  I hit the breaks and turned around on the road and went back.  I needed a picture.  I pulled up and there were several in one bunch. I was shocked to ...

This is one of the things that also falls into Curb Appeal.  When I pull into a yard, I look at the curb appeal and translate it to Pride in ownership. It really isn't hard to tell.  You pull into the drive,  The yard is all mowed.  But look a bit closer at the trimming.  It the grass the same color around the trees and other ornaments, or is it yellow.  Yellow means that it has not been trimmed very often and most likely just for the showing. Now look around the windows and the door.  Cob Webs?  Dust and dirt.  Is the glass on the windows full of dirt from 2years ago. Inside the home also.  Look in the corners.  Up on the ceiling are there cobwebs.  Is the paint dark around the registers.  Corners on the floor. Are they clean. Some things you can hide.  Cleaning and paint inside is one...

This is the last of these that I have. I have seen many others, but these were the high lights.  Enjoy and have a great weekend. Little Johnny got into more than he could handle! He could pant the ceiling if he only had one more pail.   Can we say bungee cord.  I just hope this guy can bounce real good.  I wonder what will happen when he hits the curb at the bottom of the picture.  I just bought a thousnad shares of Duct Tape stock this morning.  I believe this is going to catch on!  OK, you are hanging upside down from who knows how far up.  You have a buddy with his head between your knees and holding onto your legs.  He had better pray to God that he doesn't get a sudden rush of gas to let loose!!! Now I am going to sell all of my insurance stock after looking at these two!

This is going to be short and to the point.  Home maintenance is the back bone of your investment.  If you take just 1 hour a weekend, that would be 52 hours a year.  52 hours a year is a lot of time allowed to keep you investment in top shape.  It may not seam like a lot, well, then why not do it?   A shingle loose here, a cracked window there.  Next the paint is peeling, faucets drip and gutters get all clogged. Now you have some serious work to be done.  Now your home is worth less than it should be and if you have to sell NOW, it's not going to happen. So, protect your investment.  Just an hour a week can keep your home from going like this...   To looking like this...  Ok, this may be a bit drastic, but hopefully you get the idea.  an hour a weekend is better than spending the whol...

NO Hoax...Depending on your drive and connections...you could start this seasonal lucrative business for as little as $2 over head. "NO Way, you say and I say, Yea WAY!!! Supplies that you will need won't cost a dime.  Walmart and other big box stores get vendors to place inventory in their stores for 30 to 60 days before payment is due.  By that time, you should have sold the inventory and paid the vendors off early and pocketed a good profit. So What is this business venture?  Mosquito's!  Yes, Mosquito's.  For the low cost of $2, I will allow you to harvest all the mosquito's from my property and I will give you exclusive rights for the rest of 2010.  That is less than 30 cents a month!  Here is a sample of our product.  As you can see, it has all the legs required and is able to bur...

Read it and weep ladies!!!! A small factory in the U.S. in a small town has a policy of hiring only Married Men. When a local lady asked the factory manager if the reason because you think that women are weak, dumb cantankerous or what. "Not at all", replied the manager.  You see, Married men are used to being pushed around, know how to keep their mouths shut and don't pout when I yell at them!

We stopped by our favorite little restaurant for supper with some friends.  ( I will do a blog on this place later).  We eat there once a week or so.  Good home cooking and great service. We noticed that other patrons were getting their food before us and they had come in after us.  The waitress was keeping us filed with drinks, and I was just about to ask what happen to our order. Here she came.  She apologized for the delay and gave us our meals, filled our drinks and made sure we were all set.  We weren't mad, things happen and these folks have always been good to us that we just chalked it up as a bad night. We were leaving and paying our tab, when the owner came up to us at the till..."I am so very sorry you had to wait so long for your food.  So, the pie you ordered to take home.....

This is the scene that greeted me at 4:45 Sat. Morning.   I had already boated 2 Bass and took a second to  to take this picture.  I was still the only boat in site.  HEAVEN!!! The 3rd Bass of the morning was  very nice 18 incher.  I had caught a lot of Bass last year but none this big to my disappointment.  This Bass weighed in at 3.5 pounds.  Back into the water it went to produce a catch for  me some years in the future. The morning was perfect at almost 50 degrees when I launched the boat.  By the time I caught my 10th Bass it was already near 60. This Bass was the largest of all.  19 1/4 inches and 4+ pounds...My biggest to date.  All in all the fishing was great and the catching wasn't far behind.  I caught 20 Bass in just over 4 hours and lost about 5-6 more.   I hope this satis...
