I am not sure you would call these guys dedicated or not, but it is a great idea.  This floating screen house is 16 feet square. It is run buy electric trolling motors. These guys have it on a semi private lake of about 40 acres. Cool idea, and a place to get away from the bugs.

Many people say they don't plan for getting old, but plan to retire. Well, that is getting old. I see growing older in this way... First...Eventually I will quit lying about my age and brag about it. Second...The older I get, the fewer things that are worth waiting in line for. and Third...Some people try hard to turn back the odometer, Me I want people to know why I look this way.  I traveled long roads and many were not paved!   WE may think we are planning for retirement, but in reality we are planning on getting old.

Somedays  life is a little harder than others. Somedays life is way harder than others. WE want to kick and scream at the top of our lungs, but, besides not being real Professional, it just would not help a bit.So, instead, I try and follow this idea... I like to hedge my bets and keep a bottle with me at all times.

Yes I believe it started way before this time. But it is much more accepted that it was the pilgrims. But, I believe that this special day was planned a long long long time ago. Someone way before our time knew that there was going to be a great needand they planned for it.

Mother Nature gave us a small warning.  Winter is on it's way.  This warning will last just a couple of days before the next small reminder. About 1/2 of the couple inches of the white stuff is already gone after one day. The rest will be gone tomorrow in my area, but sounds like Friday night, she will warn us one more time. After that..it is anyone's guess.  But we can't say that we were not forewarned!

We have been waiting for a long time for this rain. I watched as the rain clouds slowly made their way over me.   Once the rain started...I stay for a while and is still raining. Although the 1/4 inch we have so far doesn't get us out of the drought, it does help in the short term. Now, if it would rain all night!

Last week my Brother was telling me that his brother-in law got a great deal on a house. I asked him what he thought. Well, I don't know the current pricing, but, I would not have paid that much for it. So, when is a deal a great deal. Basically when the buyer of that property or any item for that matter believes they got a great deal.  Is matters not if anyone else thinks the deal is good or not, only the buyer has to believe.

Decided to take an evening and go fising with my parents and sister. I showed up at the time and we headed for the lake. We dropped the boat in the water and pushed off. Well, It took only a few seconds for my sister to tell me that the motor was not working."Didn't you check it at home before we left. Ummm, no! WE were already afloat so some paddling to get back to the dock and determine that, we were heading home. We had a great laugh and being with family made it all worth while.

Like anything where the fans vote, it is not always the best of the best that get recognized. The All-Star game for one is a fan voted event.  The announcers for a couple of weeks and even longer talk about the good players that get left out and some not as good ones get voted to play. There are a handful of people who really know the sport and will vote for the best no matter what team they are on. But, overall , the game belongs to the fans...they should be able to see who they like!

I was looking at some photo's from last years fishing trip.  This one reminded me a bit like tonight. NO, we don't have the full moon, but it has been a quiet night in my neighborhood. In a week or so I hope to hit the water for an evening of fishing, but business is hoping and right now that has to come first.

Just the other night, I awoke to a noise in the house. I quietly walked through and found this guy had brokeen in and was looking for money. What I great idea I thought, so I turned on the lights  and helped him!   It was a long weekend and a bit punchy so I thought this was funny. Have a great evening.

Yes , the weather has been a bit cool, but some thing still need to be put in the ground. Most root plants like the cool weather to start with.   Radishes are a great one for the coolness along with peas. If you wait until the weather is nice, some of the plants will not do well. Somethings need to wait until the fear of frost is gone...usually around mid to late may.   If you are planting a garden...You better get on the ball or the summer will be gone!

OK...   It is time for spring!   But, there are some things that many have forgotten about.   WE are looking for that warm weather but what comes with it is not a welcome sight.   It is Minnesota's 'Unofficial' state bird!   WE will spends hundreds if not thousands to keep this one away from us and will have very luck in doing so.   Yes...it is the mosquito! Hopefully they will not be so bad this year.

I have been plowing my drive and a dozen other for years.  I grew up on the farm where we plowed snow just so we could work.  So, I know that when you start plowing the first time, you push it back as far as you can. I did that.   Now usually, we get a January thaw.  It will take the piles down a bit and I can pile on top of the first couple of snow falls.  Even February allows some melting and we can again pile on top.   But this year we had neither.  I am stacking the snow as high as always but now I am almost right on the driveway with another storm approaching. I can see we are goin gto have a late spring unlike the very early spring from the last two years. Oh well...It could be a lot worse!

Well that old song goes something like this. But my reason isn't because of a hole in my roof.  It is because when the rain hits the frozen ground and everything else, it becomes ICE! I take 3 feet of snow over 1/4 inch of ice any day. So I am glad the rain didn't last long and we are getting nothing but snow now. BE SAFE!!! Even the birds are glad the freezing rain is gone.

And winter means snowmen, and not just the outside kind. I posted earlier that my wife has a bunch and I am finally getting to them.  So, here are just a few photo's of her 450+ snowmen... This is about 1/2 of the snowmen that she displays.  There are many more on the Christmas trees and all over outside. Hope you enjoyed.

When my phone rings and I am around people especially in an eating place, I speak softly or leave to another area.  I hate when some loud mouth talks loud enough for me to hear easily.  I also hate when they have to keep the mundane conversation going for no real good reason but to hear themselves. Here is a story that would make a few re-think their use... After a long hard day, a commuter settled down into her seat and closed her eyes. After the train pulled out of the station, the guy sitting next to her pulled out his phone and started talking in a very loud voice... Hi Sweetheart, it's Eric.  I am on the train. Yes, I know it is 6:30 and 4:30, but i had a long meeting. NO, it was not with the blonde in accounting, it was with the Boss. No Sweetheart, you are the only one in my life...

It is not to late to help someone in need for this Christmas Season.   Just remember...It doesn't have to be monetary.  I helped a neighbor today cut wood for an elderly couple.  He broke a leg and can't get wood into the house and the fixed income would be all taken up with the cost of fuel. My wife and I have taken on two families for the Christmas Season and that set us back even more than we budgeted for. But, I am still up to help someone that needs physical work done. So, get out your work clothes and just give a hand...it is needed by many! Just be careful when helping.  Ending up like this helps no one!
