If you drive through Coon Rapids during rush hour you will be glad to read this note. Highway 10 from Egret to Hanson Blvd will be upgraded to 6 lanes next year. MnDOT plans to spend $10 million to move the redneck bottleneck west 3 miles, potentially eliminating the jam completely for afternoon and morning commuters. Construction will start next April and continue until November when the new lanes will open. The largest expense in the project will be replacing the bridges over the railroad tracks. Currently, Highway 10 goes from 3 lanes to 2 right after 610 and 47 join the freeway, making for a long slow rush hour as traffic merges. Now the 3rd lane will end at Hanson where 1/3 of the cars exit anyways, This could easily knock off 5-10 minutes from your commute!   Make sure your home i...

In spite of the real estate slow down Coon Rapids continues to evolve as it has for over 150 years. It has changed from the community's humble beginnings of a dirt road farm community to the 9th largest city and 5th largest suburb in the state of Minnesota. The affects of the real estate market change on Coon Rapids is tempered by its convenient location to downtown Minneapolis and its easy access to Interstate 35, Hwy 65 and Hwy 47/10 for a commute to a lakeside cabin. Coon Rapids is a community with something for everyone: encompassing 23 square miles it boasts several neighborhood and regional parks, indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, softball and baseball fields, tennis courts, hiking and biking trails, swimming pools, a golf course, and two major regional shopping developments. ...

Well we finished our regular season tonight with a 9-0 win against Total Chaos. We started and ended our season with our only 2 shutouts of the year. Jim Blair turned 2 double plays and the rest of the team played great defense. If Epiphany wins though, they will be league champs with the 3 way tie with Cross of Christ. Tommie Casey broke out of a little slump with an in the park home run. Our State tourney starts tomorrow in Richfield at Taft Park field #1 11:20 am. Stop by and enjoy the competition. Great season guys!   Make sure your home is "SOLD by Friday!"   http://JoelFridayHomes.com

This week was a rematch with Horizon Silver and Troy let me know they were looking to beat us. We were off to our typical slow start and trailed in the game until we scored 5 in the bottom of the 4th to take a 9-5 lead. We mixed up the line up a little, having Steve Stelly start at pitcher and Adam Kirshner out in right center. Horizon used a 5th infielder the entire game although, that never really seemed to pay off with any outs. Scott had his signature triple and I had my first home run of the year (in the park). Pete has gone back to hitting from the right side and had a good night at the plate. Our defense was a little shaky so we need to clean that up by this weekends state tourney. We ended up winning 12-11 with the tieing run on first base. That puts us at 10-1, still 1/2 game b...

Well the injury/vacation bug hit us last night as only 9 guys could play for us. We were up against Meadow Creek Red and they came ready to play. They scored 4 in the first and 5th along with 5 other runs to keep us on our heels all night. We were down by 4 going into the bottom of the 5th inning. Scott's signature triple had eluded him all game. Our first 2 batters were retired, when we broke out with 8 consecutive hits, capped off with my go ahead single between the pitcher's legs. We scored 6 times to take the lead and shut out Meadow Creek Red in the the top of the 6th to win 15-13. Not pretty but a great example of why we are  now 9-1, we simply don't give up. Our new lefty Pete (just switched to left handed) went 4 for 4 and I had one of my better games going 3 for 4 includong a t...

Steve Stelly pitched great for us tonight giving up only 1 run until the 7th inning and grabbed to line drives right back at him. Scott had his signature triple and may have had another but Pete had to wait to see it drop and only advanced to 3rd. Eric Dutcher had a nice hit to the fence late in the game for a double. Overall our bats remain a little cold as we only scored 8 times but, in the end that was more than enough as we won 8-4 over Total Chaos. Next week we play them again.   Nice win Constance!   JoelFridayHomes.com

The BIG game! Epiphany! We were ready. We took the early lead and then they just kept hitting. Russ made a great throw to me at the plate to get an out an end one of their threats. Scott had his signature triple of the game and threw out another runner at the plate. All of this and 9 runs just didn't get the job done. Epiphany comes away with a 17-9 victory and first place for now. There is a virtual deadlock for first with 3 teams all having lost once to one of the other 3. 4 games left and we need to get the bats rolling again.   Go Constance!   Make sure your home is "SOLD by Friday!"   Joelfridayhomes.com

We'll take it! This game was 0-0 after 4, I guess we just need to play from behind. CR United Methodist scored 1 in the 5th. We came back with 3 runs in the bottom but, gave up 3 runs in the 6th. Four more runs in the 6th were enough for us as we turned a double play to end the game. Someone commented the sign of a good team is winning when you don't play well. I guess we have proven that the past 2 weeks. Big game next week against Epiphany, who is only a half game behind us in the standings. If we can win that game we will have a 2 game edge on the league. We'll need to hit better than we did tonight though...   Go Constance!

Well, Family of Christ Blue gave us a run for the money. They started with 3 runs in the first and shut us out. After 3 we had come back to have a 7-3 lead, thanks to Pete's unassisted double play. The hit was between him and Steve, Pete fielded the ball, tagged the runner, then sprinted and dove into first glove first for the force! You should see that one on sports center tonight. We fell behing 8-7 and trailed 14-11 going into the bottom of the 6th. Nothing fancy but we hit and ran station to station and scored 10 runs. I have termed this a "Constance inning!", any time we score more than 7 runs in an inning. Jim and Scott each had a triple for our big hits on the night. Over all not our best performance but, we never gave up and kept fighting for another win. Half way through the se...

Now that was fun, we started off with 7 runs in the first inning and never really looked back. In the 5th, leading 12-5, we had 12 straight base hits on our way to 10 more runs. This was a great team effort with everyone contributing. The great part was that The Alliance was 4-1 and they knocked us out of the playoffs last year. We need to keep our focus on beating Epiphany still to win the division, but the rest of the division now has at least 2 losses.

I just witnessed the tornado that went through Coon Rapids MN. I was in my back yard weed whipping and it was getting very dark and eerily calm. I stopped for a minute, looked straight up and saw a streak of green across the sky. I looked out at the southern horizon and saw clouds moving up towards the storm. My neighbor ws on his deck and asked if he just saw a tornado. He said yes, so my wife said to get in the house. My sister called from up North and asked if we were ok. We had no damage at the time and she thought we should check on my Mom's townhome. She was out of town for the weekend for a wedding. On the way over there we saw the path  of the damage starting just south of 125th and heading East-southeast. My mom's house was fine. I knew my wife's friend Kathy lived near the pa...

I passed by a church the other day while I was showing houses and this is what I saw! It was so funny that I had to stop and take a picture!... This trailer sits on the edge of a parking lot right next to a very very busy road! What a great way to go GREEN! How many of us have soda cans that we throw away or recycle at home? This gives a great way to help the environment while we are also supporting the local church. And, it definetely WASN'T an eyesore to see the trailer filling up... Just gave me appreciation for the church to use a unique way to save money.   Lindsey HasfordColdwell Banker Vision231 Main Street - Elk River - MN 55330763-241-5488 (office)  763-218-1347 (cell)lindseyhasford@coldwellbankervision.comhttp://www.hasfordhomes.com/   Subscribe to Lindsey's Blog by Email

The Oaks of Shenandoah neighborhood was developed from 1986-1993. This was the premier area of Coon Rapids at the time and still has a distinctive flare and many mature trees. The Oaks has homes from the $200,000 up to $600,000 price range, all single family homes. There were 10-20 existing homes when the neighborhood was developed that are still there, adding charm and character. Bunker Hills regional park is a mile east and has some of the best bike and hiking trails around. There is also 27 hole golf course, which hosted the Senior PGA for several years. Coon Rapids Dam on the Mississippi River is another great spot to picnic or enjoy the day. Bike trails cross the dam and go 10-15 miles in most directions. You can ride all the way to downtown Minneapolis from the Dam. There is also ...
