Ok, here is a sure sign of spring. The wild turkeys are here. \ Here is the male and two of the females. At first when he started doing his dance, I didn't think that the girls were paying any attention. However, he started out with 7 females and now he has 10 so I guess the dance is working. He is so proud of himself. What a guy!

Well, I am finally back sending out my "daily" photos of Oval Beach. Missed a lot of days. Hadn't considered that I might be taking a vacation. Anyway, today was a great day to go to the beach. Everytime I get down the beach I wonder why I don't just stay there. Here is one more shot of those great waves. Hope you can get over here to enjoy the waves yourself. See you soon. For your own cottage contact Dee Dee Hanson, CB Woodland Schmidt, Saugatuck at 616-836-8535.

Guess what? Just had my best February ever and my best month ever. Who would have thought this was possible with all the current real estate doom and gloom. Well, it happened. I closed three sales in Feburary and and have two more pending. So I decided to see if it was just me or if the entire area is picking up. Here are the results year to date for 2009, 2010, and 2011. It isn't just me. In 2009, five sales were closed from January 1st through the end of February in Saugatuck, Douglas, and Saugatuck Township. In 2010, fourteen sales were closed in the same time period with an average sale price of $214,000 and a range in price from $30,000 to $479,000. In 2011, fourteen sales were again closed in the same time period with an average price of $286,000 and a range of $25,000 ...

I had the privilege of working with the fourth and fifth graders at the Douglas Elementary School during the newly created "Lunch and Learn" sessions. The whole "Lunch and Learn" idea was spawned by Robert Palmer, former Gross Point teacher and new resident of the area and, I am proud to say, one of my clients. There were lots of different classes such as beading, newspapers, quilting, chess, and so on. My session was named "Quilt Your Pet" Each child brought a photo of their pet and redrew it, selected fabrics for the pet and the backgrounds, attached pets to backgrounds, put on eyes and collars, picked out borders and quilted around their pets. Pockets were attached to the back of each so they could be hung on the walls with curtain rods. The animal were not to be done in their ...

Saugatuck's Oval Beach photo was submitted by my brother, Jim Hanson, as a guest photo while I was away in Chicago at the Opera. So here is Feb 19, 2011. Really good photo and an entirely different perspective. NOTICE TO ALL VISITORS TO MY SITE! Send in guest photos and an email authorizing me to publish them on my website with credit to you, of course. The more eyes the better.

Saugatuck, Mi Beach photo for Feb 17, 2011. No snow today and ice might melt. Yeah! Got stuck in Holland Mi parking lot after returning from Chicago the other night. One of Holland's finest policemen, the finest as far as I am concerned, pushed me out at midnight. What a guy!

Saugatuck Mi Real Estate home sales held fairly steady in 2010 compared to 2009. HOMES SOLD: 2010 116 Homes and Condos SOLD 2009 127 Homes and Condos SOLD $$ Spend 2010 Just shy of $30,000,000 2009 Just over $33,000,000 Range of Sales Prices: 2010 Sales Prices ranged from $30,000 to $1,075,000 2009 Sales Prices ranged from $16,000 to $1,400,000 IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT OVER 30% OF THE HOMES SOLD IN BOTH YEARS WERE FORECLOSURES OR SHORT SALES. What that means to listing agents is that these homes are often listed by agents from out of the area and are not listed by local agents thereby cutting down...
