When I moved to Maine 35 years ago, it was mostly as a result of the books written by Helen and Scott Nearing.  Since moving to the Mid Coast region a few years ago, I made the pilgrimage to the homestead that started it all in Brooksville, Maine.  Now maintained by young and energetic stewards, this place is a shrine to the folks who inspired the "Back to the Land" movement of the '70s.
