How it’s really best if anything goes wrong, it needs to be in the first year… We bought our dream home 6 years ago in the Sun Valley subdivision in Westminster, MD. It was under construction when we found it so my husband and I were pretty excited about choosing the finishing options. The local builder seemed reputable and since I am a Realtor I had the advantage of knowing a great home inspector I have recommended for many years to check things out.  We were thrilled to sell our home of 25 years which was 13 years old when we bought it and move into a newly built home. Day 24: What I am thankful for? HistoryI find it interesting to look into the history of Maryland, especially the areas I work. Baltimore, Carroll,  Frederick, Harford and Howard Counties. There are placards like this one all over the state sharing small snapshots of history. Every time I see one I wish I could stop and read it and take a photograph. “Confederate forces under Major Harry Gilmore and General Bradley T. Johnson raided the town in 1864. Union forces to  from Gettysburg camped here.” (Wow, 100 years before I was even born)This placard is just outside the county office building at 225 Court Street Westminster, MD. If you have never been, I highly recommend it. I’m not very adventurous when it comes to food, I’m not overly picky, however, if I am going to pay for a meal I want to enjoy it. The median sold price was $286,500, median original list price was $297,450 median list price at time of sale $290,000 with a ratio of 90.73% original list price to sold price ratio. From Taneytown, near the PA line, to Marriottsville, near the Baltimore County Line, real estate sales are on track to meet 2011 numbers of 100 units sold in October.   NEW CONSTRUCTION-Westminster MD Pfaff Builders Has New Homes for Sale I was sad to see The Christmas Shop in Taylorsville close down. For one thing, it had all the Dept 56 village pieces I collect. I even attended a class there and learned how to display my village with three levels of Styrofoam built up on a table top.   It was also nearby- a few minutes away and they had a soft serve ice cream stand on the small deck. Then I saw the new owner was sprucing up the exterior and repaving the parking lot. And WOO HOO, a new ice cream shop was opening!   So what does this have to do with new construction?   Thanks to my husband Ron's love and talent by landscaping our new home we have enjoyed watching our plantings grow since we moved into our new home six years ago. When buying real estate, new contstruction typically has a builders landscaping package which was a nice foundation.
