Charles County residents have stood up to the government and won another hard fought victory! The Maryland Senate president, Thomas V. “Mike” Miller (D-Calvert, Prince George’s) and Sen. Thomas “Mac” Middleton (D-Charles) have announced that the state is no longer considering construction of a youth jail in Waldorf, MD! It's still possible that a youth facility may be built in Southern Maryland at some point in the future, budgetary constraints have forced the government to put the project on hold, and Waldorf residents have made it clear that building such a facility in a high density location, located in the middle of the town, is simply a terrible idea. I am chairing the 6th Annual Angie Houtz Memorial Fund Golf Tournament. The Angie Houtz Memorial Fund was established after my best friend Angie was killed in the September 11 attack on the Pentagon.  The charity is run by my husband and I, Angie's 2 sisters and their husbands.
