Landlords who are willing to accept pets can take several steps to attempt to protect them from the additional costs and risks of allowing pets.   Some years ago, I was contacted by a landlord to assist him evict his longtime, rent-paying tenant from a luxury duplex condominium apartment in a fashionable part of town. Why would a rational landlord do such a thing? Well, the tenant had recently inherited a number of prized cats and significant funds for their care from a deceased family member. Lewis Orchards Farm Market   When you move to Maryland, you expect to find good food and prospective home buyers ask about the best places to shop and are always interested in farm markets.  One of the first farm markets we always recommend is Lewis Orchards.  The market is located in Dickerson, Maryland, between Poolesville and Beallsville.  From Kentlands, you just drive out Darnestown Road (State Route 28) until you reach the intersection with Peach Tree Road.   Lewis Orchards is a family owned business that has been part of Montgomery County, Maryland life since 1888.  Robert and Linda Lewis are the fourth generation to own and operate the Lewis Orchards Farm Market.   For those that are new to the community, we suggest a stop at the Lewis Orchards Farm Market on the way to taste wi...

Glass America - Windshield Replacement in Gaithersburg During a trip to Virginia Beach last week, our windshield was cracked by a stone on the interstate highway.  So, our windshield needed to be replaced. Dolores called our insurance company and they gave us the choice of two companies.  We were not familiar with the companies and just selected one by chance.  The insurance company put us into immediate contact with Glass America to schedule a windshield replacement the next day. Glass America sent their service vehicle to our home, arrived on schedule, and in about an hour, we had a new windshield.  The process was very easy and very convenient.  If you need a windshield replacement, we would not hesitate to recommend Glass America.  They are located at 7801 Airpark Road, Gaithersburg...

How to hold title to Real Estate Guest Blog By Harvey S. Jacobs, from the Washington Post    There are four main ways to hold title to real estate: solely, as a tenant in common, as a joint tenant with right of survivorship and as a tenant by the entirety. Each has very different rights, obligations and protections. Knowing the best way to hold title can save you major headaches.   Sole ownership: This is most fundamental way to own real property. When an individual owns property in his name solely, he has all rights and obligations of an owner. Those rights include: right to occupy and peaceably use the property, right to lease it out, to convey, to sell, to pledge, encumber and devise the property in his will as he sees fit. The sole owner's obligations include: paying property taxes...
