FORT GEORGE G. MEADE For some people, July 4 means hanging out with the family.  For others, it means a long weekend and trip to the beach or maybe just attending a local fireworks display.  I was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, where the fireworks display on the national mall, with the Washington Monument and Capitol building in the background, is a fact of life.  But not even that fireworks display has ever given me the same warm fuzzy feelings that I get when I go to fireworks at Ft. Meade, where I am surrounded by servicemen/women and their families, celebrating the very freedoms to which their lives are dedicated.This year's July 4 at Ft.
