On my recently posted blog I was excited to note that Ellicott City has been ranked as one of the best school systems in the country! No wonder people move to and want to live in this part of Maryland. It's always great to know the Market Activity of this well situated city. Check out the August 2014 Market Report for current details.A total of 91 homes were sold in Ellicott City for August 2014.  50 of those homes were sold after being on the market for LESS THAN 30 DAYS!  The majority of the remaining 41 homes sold were on the market less than 2 months.     The average selling price was $512,243 which is 11% higher than the year before.  There were 317 active listings which is 32% higher compared to last year. The average selling price in the 21042 zip code was $565,506 which is 2% lower than the year before. The average selling price in the 21043 zip code was $433,411 which was 3% higher compared to the year before. Main Street Matters in Ellicott City, Maryland!Been wondering about all the painting going on lately in Historic Ellicott City?  Wonder no more!  Our lovely downtown is getting a free face lift thanks to everyone who voted for Ellicott City in the Main Street Matters contest by Benjamin Moore paint.   More than 800 towns entered but just 20 locations in the US and Canada won the most votes from their local supporters.  Howard County  citizens really rallied to get votes! The painting is expected to continue through June and in the end over 40 buildings will be painted - the colors were chosen to enhance the existing character of the many shops, restaurants and homes.  The town was founded in 1772 and has seen its' share of history - we couldn't be happier that Main Street Matters in Ell...
