The Lise Howe Group just put unit S803 under contract at the Chase in Bethesda, MD.  It was listed for $359,900 for a 1 bedroom 1 bath condo with 571 square feet and a $342 condo fee.  The buyers clearly saw what we saw - that the Chase is great value since it is a mid sized  condo building in Bethesda just across from the Bethesda Metro.  The building is well priced but still provides owners with granite counters and stainless appliances, balconies, storage units, washers and dryers in the unit, and garage parking.  There is a beautiful pool and tennis courts, an exercise facility, and a pet friendly attitude.  The front desk even keeps dog biscuits on the counter for Fido and Fifi!    You will love being so close to all of downtown Bethesda and the view from your balcony is amazing! I...

The face of Downtown Bethesda is constantly changing and getting more and more upscale. When Parker's restaurant and Tara Thai left Bethesda Avenue in  March 2015, they were replaced by Williams Sonoma, the upscale houseware and kitchen supply store from California.  Williams Sonoma has been a welcome addition to downtown Bethesda since it opened in late October.  I have enjoyed stopping by as the weather cooled to grab a sample of their hot cider or to see what I needed for a holiday celebration. Now that the holidays are over, it seems that the full Williams Sonoma experience is kicking into full gear.  Every Sunday the Bethesda Williams Sonoma offers a complimentary technique class. This Sunday, January 17, the class will focus on sweet and savory crepes and how to make the fillings ...

When I first moved to Washington, the Bethesda Farm Women's Cooperative was a place where farmers and crafts people came to sell their wares.  And the basic rule was you had to grow it or make it to sell here.  Most of the stalls had fresh produce, very fresh meat (like the week before they'd been munching grass in the barn yard), and lots of quilts, knit sweaters and mittens.  There was also take out food that smelled and tasted amazing.Today, the criteria has changed.  A lot of the crafts are imported from around the world.  Some of the vendors spend their days going to estate sales and flea markets to find some treasures to resell in Bethesda.  And you can find bargains - vintage jewelry, vintage handbags, and vintage toys (not the electronic kind). And there are stalls with oriental...

I taught a class today based on  the chapter in Gary Keller's book, Shift, which addresses how to change a reluctant buyer to a willing one. The book gives four great ways to encourage that reluctant or fearful buyer to become a ready, willing and able buyer.1.   Why wait – the hazard of timing the market  Ex   Explain to your buyer that while he or she is waiting for the price of that house to improve, interest rates may go up. We all know what an impact even a slight increase in the price of a mortgage can do to home affordability.  Make sure that your buyer understands it too! 2.       Trading Up – Don't Wait!IfI  If your buyer is trading up and selling that starter house in a soft market, it is likely that the softer market in the upper price range is going to save him big money.  Y...

Paul has just opened in the new space on Bethesda Avenue and Woodmont, right next to Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids, bringing a welcomed new place to eat in Bethesda.  Paul is a French based restaurant and bakery chain that can be found in the Boston area, Miami, and Washington DC within the US.  It offers an amazing collection of pastries and beautiful breads in addition to sandwiches, quiches, tarts, and salads.  It is definitely going to be competition for Le Pain Quotidien, around the corner on Bethesda Row, and Cosi, just a few steps away on Woodmont.  The food is so delicious that my husband had the salade nicoise two days in a row! That is a real yes vote!  I am sure lots of my friends who live in Kenwood Forest will be walking over to Paul for lunch or even breakfast! This r...

Bethesda MD is home to several new condominium projects - a reflection of the changing market and new consumer confidence.  The most recent condo project to break ground in Bethesda, MD is the Lauren, which is located on the western edge of Woodmont Avenue between Hampden Lane and Montgomery Lane, and just off Woodmont Avenue.  The Lauren is designed by Robert M. Swedroe Architects and Planners and the Akseizer Design Group.  The Lauren location puts you just steps from Bethesda Avenue with all its shops and restaurants, the Barnes and Noble with its iconic fountain, and the glorious Crescent Trail, which lets you bike to Georgetown and back.
