The Newton Centre Garden is an amazing display of exquisite specimens even in the fall. A garden with seasonal interest is labr of love and planning. We can be grateful to the Newton Community Pride's Beautification Committee for their many volunteer hours. They not only maintain this award-winning garden path but several other green spaces around Newton.I recently became aware of the Newton Centre garden while strolling through the Newton Harvest Fair a few weeks ago. Even with the expiration of the tax incentives, number of sold single family homes sold in September 2010 increased over 2009. Pending sales (contracts signed under agreement) are not quit as strong. According to the National Association of Realtors, the pending numbers project a continued recovery for the national view. The Pending Home Sales Index,* a forward-looking indicator, rose 4.3 percent to 82.3 based on contracts signed in August from a downwardly revised 78.9 in July, but is 20.1 percent below August 2009 when it was 103.0. L'Aroma Cafe & Bakery is an urban oasis tucked away at 15 Spencer Street nested behind West Newton Center. The Cafe is cozy yet spacious with a second floor that would be ideal for coffee meetings. The shop offers wifi and is a great spot for a quiet place to work on a laptop! This week I met my friend, Edye for a lunch at L'Aroma. The soup was a corn chowder and it was delicious. It was a treat to select from the wide selection of specialty teas and coffees. The friendly staff is eager to please. If I had a daughter, I would take here there for a special mother-daughter tea.
