Snug Harbor, Duxbury Snug Harbor is on Duxbury Bay in the center of Washington Street. The nearest cross street is Harrison Street. Washington Street runs along the north half of the shoreline in Duxbury from Powder Point to Hall's Corner. Bay Road runs along the southern half of the shoreline. Snug Harbor is a public focal point for local activity in Duxbury. Several popular shops make their home here, including the ever-popular French Memories bakery. Tinkertown, Duxbury Tinkertown is an area on the southwest side of Duxbury. The area runs along both sides of Elm Street and Tobey Garden, north of Tremont Street, from Tremont Street up to the Route 3 overpass. Tinkertown was established in 1757. Many tinkers and other tradesmen, especially those serving the shipbuilding trade, lived here in years past. In the past few years, homes in this neighborhood have sold for prices between about $300,000 to $600,000. The Duxbury public schools start with Chandler Elementary School, then the Alden School, Duxbury Middle School and Duxbury High School. The side streets off of Elm are very quiet. Apple Hill Lane, Duxbury Apple Hill Lane is a cul-de-sac neighborhood on the west side of Duxbury, near the Chandler Elementary School.   In the past few years, homes in this neighborhood have sold for $495,000 to about $550,000. The Duxbury public schools start with Chandler Elementary School, then the Alden School, Duxbury Middle School and Duxbury High School. I lived here once, over ten years ago. It's really nice, quiet and friendly. It's surrounded by conservation land and edged with a big pond. Endangered Piping Plovers nest on Duxbury Beach - Beach closed to cars indefinitely 18 pairs of Piping Plovers have decided to make Duxbury Beach their home for the summer. Town government being what it is, the announcement that the birds' presence triggered state and Federal protection laws that are intended to limit human interaction with and damage to the Plovers and their habitat was handled in an inelegant, insensitive and blunderingly blunt fashion. Predictably, closing the beach for an indefinite time has created a human backlash of thunderstorm proportions. Duxbury home sales report for May, 2013 16 single-family homes sold in Duxbury in May.  The average LISTING price was $650,000.     (Average: total prices / number of homes) The median listing price was $520,000.     (Median: the home halfway down the list) The average SALES price was $616,000. The median sales price was $485,000. The average number of days on market was 73. The average price paid per square foot was $249. There are only 83 single-family homes on the market in Duxbury today. That's very low, and puts a premium on quality homes for sale. It's a bit more than 5 months of inventory, but 26 new properties came on the market in May. Summer in Duxbury, Massachusetts The biggest summer draw in Duxbury is the Duxbury Beach. Over six miles of barrier strand beach is accessible by the Gurnet Bridge from Duxbury, and from the north, arriving through Marshfield. Daily parking fee is $15, and parking stickers are available from the town for both residents and non-residents. Directions to Duxbury Beach:  Take Route 3 to exit 11, Duxbury. The Duxbury Spring House Tour will be happening on Sunday, May 18, this year. This is a fabulous, fun event organized by the Duxbury Newcomer's Club and enjoyed by long-time residents as well as everyone else who participates.
