Bourne, Massachusetts is the "gateway" to Cape Cod.  This term used to be the designation for Wareham, but since Route 495 ends at the Bourne Bridge, Bourne has taken on this designation.  Bourne is also the entrance to the Sagamore Bridge, so it has both accesses to the Cape covered.  Some of the areas of Bourne known to the locals and tourists are Sagamore, Bourne, Pocasset, Monument Beach, Otis, and Gray Gables.   Gray Gables became popular when President Grover Cleveland used it as his summer place.  The Cape Cod Canal runs through Bourne and is the reason there are two bridges to get "on Cape".   Bourne is also the town that the US military uses to make up the Camp Edwards Miltary Base and the Otis Air Force Base.   Edwards is where the Pave Paws early warning radar center is, and ...
