I have been looking at several fine homes on forested land in the Folsom area of St. Tammany Parish lately.  I have stumbled upon several homes that pay less taxes than I do.  I asked several home owners but none would really answer the question until last week. Seems as long as you have three and a half acres minimum you may qualify.  For example one property worth $400,000 pays just over a grand a year in property taxes.  WHAT, are you kidding me?  No, all you have to do is go to the assessors office and fill out the paperwork and see if you qualify. So, anyone living on at least this much land needs to go and give it a shot.  Or contact the St. Tammany Assessors office for more information. 07/14/2009

I know I have never seen a polo game.  Well mark this down.  On May 18 there will be a fundraiser featuring a polo match.  The event will be held at the Folsom Equestrian Center at 16191 Louisiana 40 from 1 to 5p.m.  There will be a variety of food, live music and children's activities.  There will be a session to go over the rules.  I can tell you i don't know them.  Cost will be $10 and the money goes to the land trust to help preserve scenic land.  For more information call 504-628-5245. 05/01/2008
