If you enjoy Chamber music, joing the Baton Rouge Symphony Chamber Series 12/12/2010 at 4:30pm at the Houmas House Plantation and Gardens. You can enjoy an intimate sound experience under the magnificant live oak trees. Then enjoy a dinner at Latil's Landing following the concert. Houmas House has a colorful history. The first owners of the plantation were the indigenous Houmas Insians, who were given a land grant to occupy this fertile plain between the Mississippi and Lake Maurepas. By the time of the Louisiana urchase in 1803 the plantation was established and producing sugar. After many flourishing years, in 1927 the mississippi came out of its banks in the epic "great flood".
