Christmas in Wilmore 2011 This week we had two different families invite us to "Christmas in Wilmore."  We were treated to a special sunset as we journeyed the 25 minutes from our house to the lovely town of Wilmore, Kentucky.  Wilmore Kentucky may be my favorite small town in America.  It is not by any means the most beautiful or the most aesthetic.  It does however have some of the friendliest and hospitable people on earth.  The town consist of a few businesses, Asbury University and Seminary and many small adjacent farms. This was the 23rd year for "Christmas in Wilmore."  All of the businesses open their doors and serve refreshments to the festive crowd.   My wife, Kathy's favorite treat were the Spring Rolls at the "Great Wall Chinese Restaurant."  There is of course the lighting... 12/04/2011

Saturday morning we drove down to Wilmore to go to a very sweet small town parade with our children and grandchildren.  I so much enjoy Wilmore.  It is only a 20 minute drive from South Lexington and with the completion of the new four lane highway in the near future it will be quicker and safer.  What is so special about Wilmore?  It is truly a small town that has somehow preserved the mid 20th century.  The parade is mostly people having fun.  The lawnmower brigade of men not afraid to have a little fun and laughter is a reflection of the kind of people that live in this Central Kentucky Community. Wilmore still has a drugstore with Soda fountain.  It is the home of Asbury University and Asbury Seminary.  Parents rave about the quality of schools in Wilmore.   At this very moment ther... 07/05/2010
