Rock Springs is a brand new RJ Thieneman neighborhood right off Highway 22 still inside Jefferson County. (It's streets aren't even mapped yet!) Homes start in the low $300s and feature styling not commonly found in traditionally minded Louisville. Rock Springs, near Prospect and Glen Oaks, is close to shopping in The Summitt and expressways. There are currently a good number of available lots if you want to build the custom home of your dreams in this great location. Many of the homes in Rock Springs are decidedly "Craftsman" in styling, which is something that is hard to find, and utilize many different kinds of building materials. Click for More

The internet has become the favored tool among home buyers.  They use it to search and preview properties before getting together with their Realtor to get a closer look.  I love for my clients to use the web.  It sometimes help them with a realistic assessment of market and what they can get for their money.  The following is another tidbit of information from my friends at SMARTBOX.  You can reach them at smartboxllc.com for questions or comments.  Enjoy. The internet or the World Wide Web has become the world's first information source, but do you know its story? The CreationThe idea was devised by the Department of Defense (DOD) in the US. Initially it was created so that officials would have a way of communication, in case of being hit by a nuclear bomb. The internet was supposed to...

It has been a busy few weeks.  Derby was beautiful.  We had several friends that had parties and I managed to get to the track that week.  Unfortunately I didn't win a single race.  I did pay for some wagering lessons.  I was a guest of one of the banks I work with, I met some really nice folks and got to see some old friends and it was a wonderful afternoon; can't complain about that.  I took this picture of the winner's circle from the fourth floor.  The market has been moving along.  I have had people tell me that they don't want to list now because no one is buying.  Unfortunately that is a product of the media's relentless barrage of negative press about the market.  The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has been running ads that stress that real estate is local and that you s...

This afternoon The Wall Street Journal is reporting that General Electric (GE) has contracted with Goldman Sachs to auction its Appliances Division.  The Louisville-based division has been hit hard by the US housing slump and has been struggling over the last several quarters.  Today's blow may be much harder to recover from. The news came as a surprise to employees, union leaders, and community leaders.   Mayor Jerry Abramson issued a statement to local news organizations which concluded with "Officials told me they were looking at possible reductions throughout their global operations, including Louisville, but they did not indicate that selling Appliance Park was part of their plan." Appliance Park was opened in 1951. In the late 1970's the park over 25,000 people were employeed at t...

Goodness gracious, it looks like the laws of supply and demand are not favoring the consumer this Spring!  With the rising costs of gasoline, and the corresponding increase in travel costs, it only makes sense to find alternative ways to search for a new home. Have you had a chance to look at what information is available on the internet?  While I cannot imagine a computer screen replacing the great personal feeling one gets when they see the home of their dreams for the first time, I also cannot imagine driving around without a solid gameplan in place to minimize wasted expensive travel. The internet provides you with a huge variety of resources to search for your new home without putting a dime in the gas tank.  For example, on my website, Louisville, KY Homes for Sale, you are able t...

The Polo Fields is an amazing golf course community located in Louisville's East End off Shelbyville Road near Locust Creek, just down the road from Lake Forest. A fairly large community, the Polo Fields continues to grow and add smaller developments within it's neighborhood. From garden homes, to modestly prices single-family homes, all the way up to larger homes in the $5k-$7k range, this subdivision has homes of all types. And if you want to have a home that overlooks the golf course, like Glen Oaks, there are some amazing views in the Polo Fields. I know the title sounds a little Martha Stewart, but baking-up is like insurance.  You don't think about insurance until you need it.  If you don't have it, it's too late.  My friend Colin Recevuer sends me helpful computer tips from time to time and I like to pass them on. Here is his take on Backing up your data: Every week I get the call."My screen says and nothing will come up. Has my hard drive crashed?!"My first response is "Did you backup your data?"Hard drive crashes don't just happen to your teenager who downloads a virus. They don't just happen to the guy you saw in Starbucks that spilled his coffee on his laptop. They don't just happen to certain people that do certain things, they happen to everyone. The word "Hard drive" sounds fancy and expensive, but they are really nothin...
