A bit of an unexpected visit. Actually we knew he was coming, just did not understand how powerful his passing through was going to be. I had an appointment on Shelbyville Road and left my office about a half an hour before I needed to be there thinking traffic may be bad with the weather. And it was. I left Crestwood and could not get through Pewee Valley. Every side street I turned on was worse than the last. Trees down, power lines across the roads and the huge poles that hold the utilities were snapped like toothpicks dangling in the air held up by the high voltage lines hovering over the cars. Cancelled the appointment and headed home. Same thing out in Buckner, trees down and no power. School is called off today and already for tomorrow. Rumor has it we will be without electricity...

I have been working on several webpages that highlight some of Louisville's best neighorhoods. Here is a new one on Locust Creek and Homes for Sale in Locust Creek. Locust Creek is out Shelbyville Road just before you cross in to Shelby County. It has been home to several Homearamas and is a popular destination. Locust Creek also has a swim and tennis club and clubhouse. Hope the info is helpful, let me know if you have any questions.

I have not officially made the move to be a "Real Estate Peddler", but here is an interesting article about an agent out west who is catering to bikers by promoting her biker friendly listings. At this point going from Buckner to Prospect over to east Louisville and back to Crestwood, I might lose a few clients if I tell them to hop on their bikes and follow me to the next showing. Actually, I am not sure I would make it up the hill on Hwy 393. Anyway, maybe Oldham County may not be the best bike commute for everyone, but there are a few areas of town that may work. The one that comes to mind immediately is the Highlands. Whether walking or biking, you can be to the grocery, shops, parks, restaurants, downtown and just about anything you need with a little time and effort. We lived in t...

Busy holiday weekend here in Louisville, KY. We have the annual football battle between the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville. That kicks off at 3:30pm on Sunday, the game will be on ESPN. Sunday morning, the Ironman triathlon comes to Louisville. Competitors will swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 and then run a full marathon. There are 20 people signed up to do the Ironman from Oldham County. I cannot imagine going 140 miles in one day. If I go 4 miles on the treadmill, I think I have done something. I also heard John Bowles, a local news person with channel 32 is doing a documentary like what they do for the Hawaii Ironman. He picked 3 local competitors to follow their training and race day. I think 2 were in their mid sixties and one woman they were following is a teacher at...

I just saw prices reduced today on 3 bedroom units as much as $25,000 and $10,000 drops on smaller units. These were $205,000 units now priced at $180,000. These were 10% drops. I smell a motivated builder/seller. The price reductions were on New Construction. To see the list of all condo units available go to Norton Commons Condos. Or email me at info@familymoves.com. Well, let's see... They each are very desirable and sought after neighborhoods in Louisville and Oldham County. They all have a pool and clubhouse in the development, Glen Oaks has a Country Club. Oh yeah, and they each have a foreclosure or pre-foreclosure for sale. Not only these neighborhoods, but also Copperfield, Notting Hill, and even New Construction in Ashland in Pewee Valley, KY. Could be some great opportunities to move in to some of Louisville and Oldham County's premier neighborhoods at below market prices. Today most buyer's that make offers on properties are coming in well below the list price of the homes they want. So, are we in a buyer's market? Overall, with the inventories that are out there and the negative press we hear about the real estate market I think the sentiment is leaning toward a buyer's market in Louisville and Oldham County, KY and in some areas the feeling is stronger than others. But that is a generalization. I think what type of market it is comes down to a case by case basis. You might find a builder with inventory of 2, 3, 4 or more homes that they need to unload to stop the monthly heaving of cash on interest and they might be willing to come down substantially to stop the bleeding. Especially if they are building homes in the $400,000 plus price range. If you wa...

If you have not started training yet, you might want to wait until next year to hop in on this. The Ironman 2008 in Louisville KY is coming up on August 31st. Atheletes from around the world will be here to swim 2.4 miles in the Ohio River, Bike 112 miles and then finish off the day with a quick marathon to round things off. 83 miles of the bike portion of the race are in Oldham County. I remember last year we watched part of the race at the Hwy 146 and Hwy 393 intersection, right at Oldham County High School, and it was something to see. It seemed like a never ending stream of bikers coming from HWY 42. Pretty impressive. I know the hills on wy 393 can be tough on cars at time, could not imagine making the trip on a bike. If you want to get a cousre overview go to Louisville Ironman 20...

St James Art Show In Louisville KY I can hardly believe that almost a year has gone by and it will be time once again to see all the wonderful art at the St James Art Show. This is one of my favorite Kentucky Festivals! The 52nd annual show will be on October 3rd - 5th this year. Hopefully, we will have some cooler weather than the last time I attended. My Mom and I almost melted from the over 90 degree weather. My suggestions for your visit might be: Dress in something cool. Drink plenty of liquids. Wear comfortable shoes to be on pavement all day. Park in the neighborhood surrounding St. James Court. Residents rent out spots in their yards or driveways. That way you can carry back goodies to your car or just take a break and relax. Pay them...it's worth the price. To check out more pi...
