FORT CAMPBELL, Ky., June 24 2011 - The Army's top officer, Gen. Martin E. Dempsey visited with Fort Campbell Soldiers and Families June 23, taking the time to thank them for the sacrifices they have born in service to their country. The 37th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army toured the installation and some of its facilities, met with senior leadership and held a Family Forum, which gave Soldiers and their Families an opportunity to voice some of their concerns with everything ranging from housing, behavioral health and recreation. "Fort Campbell, the 101st, the 5th Special Forces Group and all the other folks here - they've been carrying a fairly significant share of the load," said Dempsey. "They've deployed, I think, more than any other [major] unit in the Army. They've had some incred...

A valuable benefit that is still available to our Nation's Armed Forces that simply is not communicated enough.  As the Soldiers of the famed 101st Airborne Division redeploy from yet another Rendezvous with Destiny, I was reminded by Rod Hawkins of F&M Bank of the Military Tax Credit Extension Information. Members of the military and certain other federal employees serving outside the U.S. have an extra year to buy a principal residence in the U.S. and qualify for the credit. Thus, an eligible taxpayer must buy, or enter into a binding contract to buy, a principal residence on or before April 30, 2011. If a binding contract is entered into by that date, the taxpayer has until June 30, 2011, to close on the purchase. Members of the uniformed services, members of the Foreign Service and ...

Good evening all.  It has been quite some time since I have penned a blog post - my apologies to my fans fan (my darling daughter) for making you wait so long. Tonight I want to touch on Trust.  Trust in life, Trust in your faith, Trust in business.  Trust is undoubtedly one of the most powerful tools in one's life.  Don't believe me?  Look at some of the people you have trusted in your past that have betrayed that trust - did it cut to the bone?  I bet it did, regardless of how tough you are.  To truly trust is to open yourself up - not an easy thing to do for most. Growing up, I was the gullible type - always looking for someone to cling to - trying to find somewhere to belong perhaps.  I opened myself up quickly and certainly trusted many of the wrong people early on.  While many of ...

Today was a great memorial day for many Ft Campbell families as soldiers from the 101st DSTB Division arrived back home today. What a way to make Memorial Day a little emotional on a good note. I want to say WELCOME HOME to these soldiers and THANK YOU for your service and hard work.  http://www.newschannel5.com/global/video/popup/pop_playerLaunch.asp?vt1=v&clipFormat=flv&clipId1=3797468&at1=News&h1=Soldiers Return Home On Memorial Day

Now, while I have been very critical of Washington's direction in respect to the stimulous and the various bailouts, this is a huge win for our Soldiers, Veterans and their Families.  I don't know how this can be construed as stimulous, but I certainly will not complain about money well spent on those who have sacrificed so much so that I, like you have the opportunity to voice our opinions - walk down the street without fear - and lay our head down at night without worrying if we will wake in the morning. The Senate's economic stimulus package mirrored the House version in that it includes funding for military and Veterans Affairs construction projects.  $2.4 billion in military construction funding includes: Child Development Centers: $353.8 million for child development centers at U....

Yesteday, while on Floor Duty at the Sango Crye-Leike office, I received a call from a young Soldier who had just arrived to Fort Campbell.  He was needing assistance to get his household goods (HHG) delivered.  He had found an apartment, but could did not know where to go or who to call in order to get his Family's HHGs delivered.  That said, I thought I would post some information for the Soldiers and their Families who are coming in.  Transportation Office:  270-798-7151 Family Assistance Call Line:  1-866-252-9319 American Red Cross:  270-798-8559 Army Community Service:  270-798-9322 Army Emergency Relief:  270-798-5518 Blanchfield Army Community Hospital Operator:  270-798-8400/8388/8410 BACH Appointment:  931-431-4677/270-798-4677 Emergency Room:  270-798-8400/8500 Chaplain Care ...
