City of Olathe Offers a New Yard Cart Program Are you tired of purchasing those paper yard waste bags?  Stuffing and squishing those bags to their maximum capacity and right before the pick-up day it pours rain and they get soaking wet.  You try to move them to the curb and the bag rips and you have to stuff and squish all over again. GOOD NEWS!  THE City of Olathe is providing another choice for their waste disposal customers, "The Yard Cart".  The Yard Cart is not going to replace the traditional yard waste disposal methods, but is designed to enhance Olathe's waste disposal system.  Olathe's YARD CART holds approximately 330 lbs of yard waste, which is about six of your yard waste bags.  You can obtain a "YARD CART" from the City of Olathe for a one-time lease fee of $75, which is ad...

City of Olathe to complete the BNSF "Quiet Zone"Has anyone noticed the decrease in train noise in the City of Olathe?  We certainly have.  We are one of the fortunate families that live in between the railroad tracks in Olathe.  We have heard the improvement with the completion of the overpass for the train on the Ridgeview/Santa Fe route.  More good news to come!  Completion of the "Quiet Zone" for the Kansas City Road/Santa Fe route is scheduled to be completed by 2010. There is nothing worse than trying to have an outdoor gathering in this area and being constantly interrupted by the blowing of TRAIN HORNS.  We love our home and location near the downtown area of Olathe and Mill Creek Park, however when we have a family gathering it is so frustrating to have a conversation.  Accordi...
