Do you ever wonder how farmers make it as subdivision after subdivision closes in around them? I do. The picture below is of a barn is Wasco, IL. It was taken on a cold winter day. What used to be acres and acres of fertile farmland has been diminished to a sad little cornfield immediately surroundng this barn. I would think that it's becoming less and less viable to farm smaller and smaller plots of land as industrial farmers operate more efficiently and drive down the price of crops. This provides more incentive for the "little guy" to offer up more land to developers. I think it's only a matter of time until we see this barn come down....and 15 houses grow in its fields.
