November 2013 sales were at a mid level compared to November of 2012 and 2011. November YTD sales of 1,000 are running 26.7% ahead of last year's year-to-date sales of 789. The Median Sales Price in November was $282,000, down -0.2% from $282,500 in November of 2012 and down -7.5% from $305,000 last month. The Average Sales Price in November was $309,956, down -18.2% from $378,814 in November of 2012 and down -17.1% from $374,044 last month. Yesterday we closed on a really nice property, a condo at 2033 Sherman unit 515 in Evanston IL 60201, that is a couple blocks away from Northwestern University. Great for this lucky young lady who can walk to town, transportation and so many unique shops and restaurants, transportation is a snap. It features contemporary design with beautiful oak floors throughout. The elevator building built in 1969 is totally renovated, the kitchen has top of the line maple cabinets, granite counter tops, stainless steel high end appliances  and a sky light because it is on the top floor of this 5 story midrise building elevator building with a garage. I don't know if people across the country have heard of Dominick's Grocery stores? It has been a staple in Chicago since opening its first store in Chicago in 1918 by Dominick di Matteo. I am not saying I like or dislike the stores, the answer is yes and no. This is reporting from a Realtor, what a laugh. But I care about my area. I worked at Dominick's at age 19 in-between high school and college as a stock boy and have fond memories. At that time I carried a stamp in my back pocket and turned the wheels and stamped cans to mark their prices. We had to wear white or tan slacks then so I always had ink stains on my pocket. On December 1st. the Evanston History Center 225 Greenwood St. Evanston, IL will be having a food drive and a free open house. The mansion is beautiful. Usually there is a charge to view this property but if you bring a donation or some food it is free for this event. All the food will be donated to the Chicago Food Depository. Evanston IL had has been hit hard like other areas of the country over the last few years. It used to be that homes would easily sell before they hit the MLS, it was that desirable. Since the spring market started things really changed. Is the housing crunch over? Maybe so, it seems the same in some other parts of the country. The Median sale price of an Evanston home in October 2012 was about $450,000. In October of 2013 it is at $461,000. That is over a 13% gain. What great news for home sellers. 415 Single Family homes were sold from the first of the year as opposed to 367 exactly one year ago. Here is a picture of Evanston and the Lake Front in 1907. My things have changed. I think it is a really interesting photo and fun (at least for Evanstonians) to see. Now the campus is 3 or 4 times the size and the area very much more populated with homes. Imagine riding around in your Model T in 1907?
