It is hard to believe. Can the Cubs actually end the Chicago saying of "maybe next year"? We will see very soon. People are very excited about the idea of the Cubs doing so well this year. Ever since they got a new manager in Joe Maddon things started to change. I remember hearing an interview with Joe and I know that this guy really cared.Another interesting turn I am taking in this blog post is The neighborhood where Wrigley field is and how it has changed over the years. When I was a young lad this was a really a working class area. I remember going with my father in the 1969 season when the stars were Ernie Banks and Fergie Jenkins. Things were really different in those days. Now this area of Chicago which is the Lakeview neighborhood has been re-named Wrigleyville. It is a place whe...

Debunking Recent Chicagoland Myths If you believed all the stories in the press these days, you couldn't be blamed for taking a wait-and-see attitude towards buying your next home. But, here are three solid facts—or mythbusters—that prove there's no better time to jump in than right now.Mythbuster #1: Chicagoland is thriving with higher home salesHome sales soared to a 9-year high in April, growing over 10 percent over last year, according to the Illinois Association of Realtors. New home construction is up 34 percent over last year, as well. These trends and the fact that interest rates recently hit a three-year low, mean it's a great time to buy!Mythbuster #2: Businesses are coming to the areaCommercial real estate is booming, particularly downtown, where vacancies dropped 12 percent...

Too often these days sports owners and teams are too far focused on the business side that tradition and team pride go right out the window. Not only is this apparent when it comes to player contracts but the stadiums they play in. In 2009 The Dallas Cowboys left Texas Stadium (a stadiun that FIVE super bowl winning teams played in) for a brand new state of the art one. Also in 2009, The New York Yankees left Yankee Stadium (home to TWENTY SEVEN World Championships) for a newer stadium as well. With these and many other stadiums rapidly being demolished, one thing I have really come to appreciate as a resident of Chicago is Wrigley Field. When I was younger and went to the games with family I was the typical happy kid eating his hot dog, nachos and in awe of watching a professional game...

Last week, we took some time off to support a charitable organization (ORT America) and took a private tour of Wrigley Field and then had dinner at nearby  Goose Island Brewery where we enjoyed conversation from sports announcers Dan Bernstein (radio 670 The Score, CBS) and Jim Memelo (radio 720 WGN) .   Living in NW Indiana, The City of Chicago is commuting distance by car or train to the windy city if you are looking for an evening excursion to a Chicago Cubs Baseball game or other things to do! This trip to Wrigleyville was 1.5 hour drive from Valparaiso, IN during a non-rush hour commute.   Living in NW Indiana has it's advantages... with lower property taxes and a more financially stable state government than our neighboring state of IL.... many choose to live in NWI, yet enjoy the...
