I ventured out onto the semi-frozen shoreline of Lake Pend Oreille, Sandpoint, Idaho today and comped together the panoramic, cold  beauty of Kootenai Bay this morning.  The harshness can be the most beautiful of all.  The eagles were certainly enjoying it...they were a little too far off to capture in this photo.     01/06/2013

Just as I was getting ready to kick back and enjoy my family over the Holidays (including my birthday), clients came out of the woodwork requiring quick closings to take advantage of the incredible early snow depth at Schweitzer Mountain.  Relying on a little luck and whatever finesse I could muster, the mission was accomplished!  The fact that Schweitzer is currently leading the pack with the highest snow total of any major ski area in the states certainly has helped make this Holiday Season go a little bit smoother.   (SCHWEITZER MOUNTAIN REAL ESTATE ON FACEBOOK)   12/30/2012

Maybe the accolades are actually taking effect!  Sunset Magazine has named Schweitzer Mountain a Top Twenty U.S. Ski Resort in its latest poll AND names Sandpoint, Idaho one of the Top Ten Ski Towns in the West! Powder Magazine is currently holding their Ski Town Throwdown Event where they have set up 32 brackets (similar to the NCAA Basketball Tournament) with the top ski areas/ski towns in North America.  The public is asked to vote for their favorite town.  Sandpoint/Schweitzer is in the FINAL FOUR! Spring has finally sprung in Sandpoint, Idaho (better late than never) and what better time to dust off the bike and take a ride north of town.  Looming above Sandpoint are the ever-present Seven Sisters Peaks of the Selkirk Crest...a constant reminder of why we live here.  This photo was taken 6 miles from the Sandpoint city limits in beautiful Selle Valley. The Inland Empire High School Tennis Tournament took place this weekend...April 27 & 28th in Spokane, Washington. This year the draw included 46 teams from Washington & Idaho and over 700 participants!  This is argueably the largest HS tennis tournament in the U.S. As always, the competition was fierce...no distinction was placed on the size of the school.  Everyone had to compete equally.  The challenge of a small school of, perhaps, 300 students competing against the massive "big-city" schools of 2500+ students can be daunting, to say the least, but this is the stuff dreams are made of.
