Kootenai (Sandpoint, ID)

I ventured out onto the semi-frozen shoreline of Lake Pend Oreille, Sandpoint, Idaho today and comped together the panoramic, cold  beauty of Kootenai Bay this morning.  The harshness can be the most beautiful of all.  The eagles were certainly enjoying it...they were a little too far off to capture in this photo.

GOLD HILL ON KOOTENAI BAY       Not a bad view looking across Kootenai Bay here in Sandpoint, Idaho.  Kootenai Bay is one of the "smaller" bays on Lake Pend Oreille.  It is about 3 miles across and 2 miles wide.  Now that Schweitzer Mountain is enjoying the LAST day of the ski season today, I'll be spending my quality time playing on the lake. My office remains up at Schweitzer, however, so please do not hesitate to join me up here for "non-winter" fun (and sales with a little luck...).

The photo below was also taken on September 29th, but in Sandpoint, Idaho.  That is Gold Hill, a few miles across Lake Pend Oreille viewed from my dock on Kootenai Bay.  If we had a rainbow, the visua...
