I went up to Driggs, Idaho for a real estate auction and the Grand Tetons were just awesome. The Teton Valley around Driggs was in "Autumn Mode" and the Tetons were in "Winter Mode". We fly our hot air balloon in Driggs all summer. The area around Driggs provides the best conditions for hot air ballooning and glider activity in the western US. This picture really portrays autumn on the Idaho side of the Tetons.

I am seeing more and more on television the advertisement about Idaho potatoes. The ad features Denise Austin and at the end of the commercial she appears with the Tetons in the background holding a bag of potatoes that say "Grown in Idaho". I know these mountains very well as we spend our summer ballooning on the other side of the Tetons - the Idaho side around Driggs. I can say that I have flown more in Driggs in the past few years than any other place in the Rockies, so I know both sides of the Tetons. If you look up at the top of Grand Teton (13,775') which leans North- the summit of Teewinot is on the right. From Driggs, Idaho looking at the west face you will find Teewinot on the left side of Grand Teton. So the "Grown in Idaho" shot was taken in Wyoming near Jackson, not Idaho.

Driggs Idaho Centennial celebration was a big hit. Established in 1910, the City turns 100 years old this year. Here are some pictures of the activities from mid February. The Winter Carnival was a big hit. It was great seeing people of all ages and social background come together to celebrate a common ground. Our friends at Dreamchasers brought snow shoes and skates. Our ranching friends brought horses, sleighs and straw (watching the hay bale race was great). Burnsides and Littles were there giving wagon rides. What a great time hanging out with some great people. I tip my hat to all volonteers and organizers.

Of the money we raised at our holiday fund raiser we gave $75.00 to the Teton Valley Idaho American Legion. I went to their meeting tonight to deliver the check and kept saying to myself "every little bit helps". Even with these confirmations I felt a little bit like I was feeding a maggot to a lion. It just didn't seem like a big enough dent.  Then I had the opportunity to hand over the check and say my piece first so I didn't have to set through their meeting. These guys were trying to be nice. I wanted to hear what was going on in their meeting, so I stayed. I am so grateful that I did, they talked about propane prices, renting their building to a church and so on. Then as we were ready to adjourn Gary remembered to tell how they had been contacted by the Alta school about acquiring ...

The First "Camp on Main" holiday event in Driggs Idaho was a great success. It was a lot of fun for our family and we had a lot of community support. It was a lot of work, but well worth the efforts. We would like to thank the community, friends and family for coming together for a good cause. The food was great, the company was fantastic and the Holiday spirit was alive. We are thankful the weather was not like it was a few days after the event. Please contact us if you would like a photograph of your picture with Santa, or camp activity for that matter. Special thanks to those that brought a little something extra special: Santa Clause· Todd and Danni Wilson (for working before, during and after tent)· Eddie Two Feathers Williamson (set up, cook and break down) and for helping us kee...
