Boater Safety Alert for Lake Pend Oreille! Please read if you plan on being on the water.U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials are advising boaters to watch for additional debris in Lake Pend Oreille after a breach in a drift yard facility allowed some logs and debris to enter the lake. While you can still go out and play on the lake it is a good idea to take things a bit slower and be on the look out for floating debris. Remember it is not just the 80 foot trees to look for but the dead heads.  The back pack program originally started when a school nurse realized that many children were relying on their school lunches and not getting enough food on the weekends. The school started sending grocieries home in paper bags but the children were being picked on by the more fortunate kids. They got the idea of filling backpacks with the food so that the children would not be singled out. Helping Hands is a non profit organization in Clark Fork Idaho run by Sue Chedester and along with their food program she has been spear heading the Back Pack program in Clark Fork Idaho.  One of my favorite pasttimes is my coffee on the front porch watching the wildlife go by.  I have several major game trails in my yard as the wildlife makes its way down to the river.  They are always so neat to watch.  One time I was showing a house and the woman said I have been in Idaho for 3 days and I haven't seen any deer or elk yet.  I took her to the window and I told her there is always something to see you only need to take the time to look.  After a few seconds of standing still and peering out the window she saw it.   A flick of an ear was just enough movement to notice that she was staring straight at a couple of white tailed deer that blended into the background nicely until they moved.   We all can miss the very thing we are looking for, if we don't take time to really p...
