Saturday morning in Maui.  We just went through a period of rain and lots of windy days.  Today the sun was out, my son gave me a call that the surf was really good. So after my morning coffee I headed down to Hookipa Beach Park for a morning surf. I love paddling out in the line up, always met with smiles and high five from friends that I been surfing with for over 40 years.  It's always nice to meet people from Europe and other parts of the world. So after three hours I headed home for some blueberry pancakes and fresh cup of coffee, my wife is so special. Well on with the day.  If your thinking about buying a home in Maui, give me a call. Maui's northshore windsurfing capital of the world.  With spring arriving, and the trade winds returns from a light showing this winter. The windsurfing season in Maui is officially on.  On Maui's northshore we had a great winter of light winds, good surf and a mild winter. I just returned from three weeks in New Zealand to rain and heavy winds. Today the sun it back and the winds are perfect for a day of windsurfing.  I was just telling my wife its time to break out the windsurfing gear for spring.  Keep in mind I have a licensed 2br B&B cottage in Haiku on 2-acres with a five star rating.Maui's northshore is known around the world for its excellent wind conditions. Maui's Northshore is home to some many different kinds of people.  You have extreme sports men and women who windsurf and kiteboard.  Then there is the stand up crew of committed  paddlers. Not to mention all the big wave chargers.  You will also find rock stars, movie stars, yoga stars and beach lovers. Myself I love the northshore, it has been my home for over 35 years. Had a great lunch at Dazoo restaurant, in Paia Maui HI 96779 What was formerly the Moana Bakery and Cafe has now become Dazoo Restaurant, and the menu has changed along with the decor.  They claim to be all about unpretentious fine dining.  There's a Korean flavor to a lot of the dishes because one of the owners has a Korean background.  Local ingredients are used extensively. Big waves pound the north shore of Maui marking the start of winter This week we have seen some really big winter swells hitting the north shore of Maui. Yesterday the 35' surf got everyone excited to head out to JAWS in Peahi, Haiku.  The Hana Highway and Hahana Rd intersection was like a parking lot as people carpooled or walked down to the cliff side to see the big wave surfers. Baldwin Beach Park remains closed today after the waves came up and flooded the parking lot and pavillion. Homes along the north shore in Kuau experienced extra high surf around 11:00 am as waves surged up much too close for comfort.  Is an oceanfront home really worth it? Beef Polynesian from Mama's Fish House will wake up your taste buds! I don't think words can express how delicious this was... a grilled papaya filled with a zesty salad and hot steak slices, drenched in lime juice. It's Monday morning and I like to get an early start on the day.  Getting up early and setting up appointments, answering emails and setting up showing for the day. Mama's Fish House on Maui - yes the crab cakes are delicious! I'll just show you how good they look and you can imagine the rest.  Loaded with chunks of crab, and garnished with a nice little salsa and some of those flying fish eggs that are so crunchy and yummy.
