Since the eruptions stopped, no outside visitors or tourists have been allowed into Leilani Estates to view Fissure 8. The only way to view this famous location up until now has been via helicopter or boat. By boat, you're just seeing the backside of it. And neighbors, understandably, find the noise of helicopters to be disturbing. An invasion of their personal space, most likely.Some people who witnessed the eruption from Kilauea in May said the eruptions made a sound like jet engines taking off. Now, it is mostly steam and heat emitting from the ground. We walked most of the property, which had originally been a ravine and is now level land.
