Kahului Real Estate for Sale Kahului, located in the central part of the island, in the isthmus between Haleakala and West Maui, is the commercial center of Maui. Most of the island's major stores and industrial operations are located here. Kahului is Maui's only deep-water port, from where sugar and pineapple are shipped and where freighters and cruise ships bound for Maui arrive. Maui's main airport and community college are located in Kahului, as is Maui Arts & Cultural Center, a state-of-the-art venue with two theatres and an outdoor amphitheatre. The Central Maui real estate market offers a substantial inventory of homes for sale, ranging from small cottages to large homes.  To search for Kahului homes, condos and land, click on the Maui Multiple Listing Service property search eng...

Where to buy your gas on Maui:Maui Oil Company  808 871-622016 Hobron Lane, Kahului HI 96732If you want to save money on your gas purchases on Maui, your best bet is to have an account with Maui Oil Company.  Once you have an account, you can use their gas pumps to fill up and get billed once a month.  You'll find that the gas here is about 20 cents a gallon cheaper than most other gas stations on the island.  That's my husband filling his barrels for the tractor.  You can buy your farm grade diesel here too, as well as grease and oil for your heavy equipment. Here in Hawaii we have expensive gas prices compared with the mainland states.  The prices also vary from island to island, with the small islands of Molokai and Lanai generally paying a little more than us on Maui.  We don't have ...

We have a Costco Wholesale on Maui and we love it.  I don't know what we ever did before they opened up here, about 10 years ago.  There is only one store still, in Kahului at 540 Haleakala Highway, at the corner of Dairy Road.  It's not one of the really big warehouses, but we're happy nevertheless.  The great thing about the location in Kahului is that it's right by the airport, so if you're coming on vacation you can make this your first stop, load up the car and head off to your condo.  Some of the local items that might be of interest are:Maui pineapples for $2.99fresh sashimi - that's raw fishkalua pork and lau lau's - Hawaiian foodboogie boards, masks and snorkels, finsbeach towelsaloha shirtsmacadamia nut products Today I had to go into Kahului, so of course I stop at Costco on ...

December 15th 2007 9:00 am; yesterday I was  on floor duty and the Superferry protestors were in full occupation of our property. Century 21 did not give them permission to be on the property and has no alliance what so ever with the superferry. Neither pro or anti. We remain neutral. My personal opinion belongs to me and not to the public. This is why there is voting process. Anyhow I did get to hand out over 50 business cards and snap a few photos. Most people smiled and had something cute to say. A few were disgruntled. Here's what I saw, about 200 protesters, a dozen police, a dozen media types. I saw many of my clients and friends. They were all friendly. I saw Lance Collins, Niki Lananda. Big smiles on their faces. One of my old band members from California was there with his fami...

Alexander & Baldwin's plan for redeveloping the old Kahului Shopping Center on Maui includes a novel plan for dividing the project into condominiums. Its subsidiary, A&B Properties, has proposed using a nested condominium approach for the mixed-use Kahului Town Center. Nested condominiums have been used on the Mainland in large, mixed-use urban projects, where residential units and commercial units are managed by separate associations, said Kahului attorney Rick Kiefer, who presented the A&B plan to the state Real Estate Commission in October. No other projects in Hawaii, to date, have proposed using nested condominiums, said Cynthia Yee, the commission's condominium specialist.

Help is Here!I stumbled into a new place the other day while my husband was filling his fuel barrels at Maui Oil Company.  We were in Kahului Maui, and I didn't want to wait in the truck.  I wandered out in the misty rain and peeked my head into the first shop I came to.  It's a small shop that's not really very visible, and I don't think they get a lot of walk in traffic.  The friendly guy in the shop said they really don't have anything for sale, except their time. lol.  They are interior designers, with a nice showroom filled with samples of all those wonderful details you want to incorporate into a new home or a remodel.  There were beautiful tiles of glass and stone, mosaics and decorative designs.  Fabrics and fibers from around the world are available.  What else is there?  Furni...

Here I sit, at Island Honda, in Kahului Maui.  I love this place.  When I bring in my Honda for its maintenance, they have a great lounge for their clients who are waiting.  I have a little cubicle with a high speed DSL connection so I can keep on working if I need to.  Of course I can also keep on blogging!  There's a TV for those who prefer to be entertained, or watch news.  There's coffee, cold drinking water, cookies and doughnut holes too.  They really want their guests to be comfortable while their cars are being worked on.  This service department really excels.  I can make an appointment, show up and be greeted by a friendly service rep, and know that they will do a good job.  If I wanted, they would drive me anywhere in town and pick me up when my car is ready, how great is th...

The state Highways Division says it will have four lanes of Puunene Avenue at Kaahumanu Avenue returned to their pre-Superferry configuration before the ferry calls again at Kahului. Superferry has announced it will renew Honolulu-Maui service on Dec. 1. Second Circuit Judge Joel August issued his order Tuesday afternoon, following a hearing Monday. At the request of the Maui Police Department, the four lanes of Puunene Avenue south of Kaahumanu Avenue will be returned to the configuration that was in place before Aug. 26 – when highways crews were ordered to restripe the lanes in accordance with a recommendation of a traffic consultant for the state and Superferry. The restoration order means there again will be two lanes of traffic in each direction. For the two harborbound lanes, lef...

In the central valley area of Maui is the town of Kahului.  This is the commercial center for our island, where you will find the shopping malls, movie theaters, and lots of services.  Kahului is also where most of you will land when arriving by airplane, as the airport is just on the edge of town.  Some of the lowest priced homes on Maui are right here in Kahului.  Harbor Lights Condominiums are a prime example of low priced housing, but with an ocean view!  That's Harbor Lights on the right, with a total of about 350 units in 4 buildings.  This project was built in 1974, and includes a swimming pool in the inner courtyard, and elevators.  There is now a security guard at the gate to regulate traffic in and out.  Maui Community College is located behind this complex, making it an easy...

POTTERY STUDIO FOR KIDSIf you live on MAUI and have kids, you probably already know about Kids & Company.  These 2 great stores sell educational toys and things for kids, not just the usual plastic junk. Their original store in the Maui Mall has now morphed into an art studio that's open every day with creative activities for both kids and adults. Mostly it functions as a pottery studio where you can design and create unique items to take home.  The owners, Mario and Ladini, have a lot of kids of their own, so they're providing something that really works for kids and their parents.  Besides being open each day, they are also available for private parties at night, and encourage adults to have theme parties where everyone can participate in the fun of being an artist. Baby showers, birt...

When I first heard about the Hawaii Superferry years ago I thought - it will never work.  Remember the Hydrofoil passenger ferry from about 30 years ago?  That was a good thing at the time, but they just couldn't make any money, and ended up going out of business.  Now the Superferry plans on doing interisland trips, but they are going to be very expensive, compared to flying.  We were very negative about the whole thing, especially the traffic impact here in Kahului Maui.    Anyway, a few years went by and here comes the Superferry to Maui, just as planned.  One day the Superferry came to Maui and offered an open house event, which we signed up for.  We made an appointment online, and showed up at our prescribed time and went on board.  We got to wander all over the ship, along with ot...

Tomorrow, Sept 22, 2007 is the Maui Pineapple Festival, being held in the historic Kahului cannery on Maui.  This cannery was shut down in June of this year, it is the last remaining pineapple cannery in the United States.  Maui Land and Pineapple Co. was loosing money with it's canning plant and is focusing on fresh fruit sales. This years festival offers one last chance to tour the Kahului Cannery. The pineapple industry on Maui has been a multi cultural operation for over 100 years.  Pineapples were introduced in Hawaii in 1813, by 1897 150,000 pecks of pineapple were exported at value of $14,000 from Hawaii.  In 1900 James Drummond Dole purchased 61 acres in Wahiawa and began experimenting with pineapple.  By 1930 Nine million cases of pineapple were packed by eight canneries on the...

I really like working at Century 21, in these times it has helped to have a cooperate backing. I did the mom and pop shops for 6 years. I also did Prudential California in San Francisco, so I know the difference. Century 21 has all the tools, and supplies right at your finger tips. The building we are in was built in 1902 it is the oldest bank building on Maui, and was used for a train depute at time in her grand past. There have been several financial institutions in the building through out the years. Now more then ever this old lady shines with pride, crown Molding, Chandeliers, Plantation style decor, even the original bank vault is in tack. I thoroughly love coming to work everyday. When you love your job then this is no longer work.
