When househunting a few years back, Hella and I had stopped near Manini Beach but not at that particular spot. We had encountered the guys renting kayaks around the bend from this beach. It is a little hard to find if you don't know where it is. Tucked away off a street from Napoopoo, but I included pretty good directions in my blog in case you want to go. Anita and I yesterday had first talked about paddle boarding but the water was not cooperating and a breeze was picking up. As an alternative, we decided to go snorkeling at Manini Beach. Except we did not end up getting into the water, LOL. You can read more in my personal blog at this link: Photos of Manini Beach at Honaunau.

For the first time in a long time, I left the house yesterday without my cellphone, keys or bag. Our houseguests, Josh and Vika, suggested a snorkeling trip south of Kona. Since they were driving, I figured I didn't need anything. To leave the house without important items to keep an eye on is a bit strange for me. Exhilerating, though.During our snorkeling adventure, I once again happened upon a remarkable event. A giant manta ray! With a back that looked like if I petted it, the skin would feel like velvet. I swam with that ray for a long distance, almost swimming over it until it began to rise to the surface. Probably to escape this crazy woman. It just isn't Christmas Eve in Kailua-Kona unless you can go snorkeling at Two-Step Beach and stop at The Coffee Shack along the way. At least that was the plan we had in the works for yesterday. We left Kona much later than we intended because my husband was hard at work solving the jigsaw puzzle we are putting together on our lanai. It's Catology Leonardo, a 1,000 piece puzzle. I had to drag him away. Then, he really did not want me to take his photo at The Coffee Shack. You'll just put me in your blog," he complained. Ha! Well, you can read more about my advenures snorkeling and visiting The Coffee Shack, and see all of the other photographs in my personal blog today at this link: The Coffee Shack in Honaunau on the Way to Two-Step Beach.

After snorkeling at Honaunau Bay yesterday with Hella Rothwell, I was exhausted last night and slept straight through to morning. We were in the water for quite a few hours, and I encountered a bit of unexpected excitement when my snorkeling took me in a different direction. It was a lot of fun to take off a day and just play. No cellphones, no cameras, no iPads. I didn't even call my husband, which I generally do at some point during the day, just to check in.Well, that's a good reason to write a blog, you know, and my husband subscribes to my blog so he always knows what I am up to, LOL.
