With the railroad came prosperity and a place where local farmers could send their crops to distant markets. A general store and post office offered a place to buy provisions or the latest gadgets and communicate both with other locals and the rest of the world. Now most of the town's stories are relegated to the epitaphs on the tombstones in the churchyard. Hello there very South Metro! I'm a new neighbor, but definitely not new to the area! I've been visiting family in Lamar County since I was born. My grandmother and her 5 siblings lived in the Forsyth and Barnesville area, and my grandfather retired from the Georgia Power plant there close by.
