Good News   Nationally, we have been continuously receiving good news about the housing market. Prices have been steadily going up and 1/3 of the homes nationally sold in July were on the market for less than a month.  We also saw the first dips in interest rates this past week after five straight weeks of increases.  This is all pointing to a healthy housing recovery.   Shadow Inventory While all of this sounds awesome, there are many out there who have heard this term, "shadow inventory".  What is it?   This Saturday May 19, 2012 the beach comes to Snellville for the first Snellville Beach Blast.  What is that you say?  The City of Snellville is bringing over 60 tons of white sand to transform the Towne Green into a beach. First you can participate in your choice of a 5K, 10K or Kids fun run then you can enjoy some great family time with your neighbors. Active Rain is the most effective social media platform that I know. It is a nice benefit to be able to write posts and have people read and comment on them. And it is nice to begin to develop friendships from those posts. Many people are getting referrals from other agents that will provide them extra income. There is a lot to be said for the benefits of Active Rain. My second platform for social media is Facebook. I love to read updates from people I know and see new ideas from people I don't know. Facebook is constantly changing and evolving with new ideas. Lately, the timeline has sprung up as a Facebook addition. I just added mine today. Yesterday, as I was taking a driving around Snellville I noticed something very interesting.  What was it you ask?  What I noticed was that subdivisions which were once sitting dormant with no activity were once again showing signs of life.  Builders are building again, no longer are the vacant lots sitting with tall bushes.    Here are some pictures I took while I was out.  At Tuscan Ridge I noticed that there was a new foundation poured for a basement lot, I noticed several lots with under contract signs, a few lots with available signs and even construction workers working. Lately we’ve all heard the good reports from the media about housing and employment and some think it’s all just fluff, but for me when I see the new construction that’s a sign that something positive is happening... 01/12/2012
