Ardsley Park, one of Savannah's most popular neighborhoods began around 1910 with the advent of the automobile becoming Savannah, Georgia's first suburb. Just a ten minute drive from the downtown Historic District, Ardsley Park - Chatham Crescent was added in 1985 to the Register of Historic Places. The design is similar to that of the Historic District which was planned by Savannah's founder General James Edward Oglethorpe, laid out on a grid of landscaped parks and squares.     Most of the homes were built in the first half of the 20th century and are a mixture of large two story homes and smaller "bungalows". Savannah's first suburb, laid out in 1911, is a mixture of prestigious four and five bedroom mansions and quaint, craftsman style bunglalows situated on tree lined ...

The Parkside neighborhood, literally named because the community borders Daffin Park along Washington Avenue, one of the most beautiful and desirable streets in Savannah with majestic oak trees draped with Spanish moss. The Parkside area runs west to east from Waters Avenue to Bee Road and from Washington Avenue to around 52nd St from north to south. You'll find a variety of early to mid 20th century homes including Arts and Crafts style bungalows and 1950s brick.                       Ardsley Park's next door neighbor to the north of Victory Drive, Baldwin Park is one of my favorite neighborhoods. From Victory Drive to 40th St  to the north and bounded to the east and west by Price Street and Waters Avenue, the Baldwin Park community has seen a lot of recent revitalization. From large homes to charming Arts & Crafts style bungalows amid mature trees and landscaping.    Many Baldwin Park homes have already undergone restoration and more still to be done, making this neighborhood a wonderful opportunity for investment. Baldwin Park has a strong sense of community and the residents seem determined to bring it back to it's original splendor. Just about a 5 minute drive to Savannah's Historic District and Forsyth Park, definitely a neighborhood worth...

One of Savannah's most desirable neighborhoods for many years, Habersham Woods is nestled between Savannah, Georgia's midtown and south side areas. The landscaping is mature, with a large variety of tree and manicured lawns with good size lots. Pools were especially popular when Habersham Woods was built so many homes have pools. Only a short drive from Historic Savannah, Georgia yet a it seems like a world away. This hidden island near the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography is private and secluded.    As you drive through the gate and down the winding drive taking in the lush, mature landscaping across the marsh onto the intracoastal waterway it's hard not to relax. Modena is a small island of only about 50 large homes and mansions as large as 10,000 sq. ft and ranging in price from around a million to upwards of four million.   One of my favorite Savannah Hotels, and one that I frequently recommend is The Mansion on Forsyth Park. Right across the street from Savannah's 20 acre plus Forsyth Park, a gathering place of locals and visitors this AAA four diamond award winning hotel is in one of the most beautiful spots in Savannah.   Set in a restored 1888 Victorian Mansion, this luxury property boasts 126 guest suites, an art gallery, the Poseidon Spa, 24 hour fitness center, great food and more. Stop by the Casimir's lounge and sip a martini from the rooftop marble patio while taking in the sights of Forsyth Park.   If a picnic in the park sounds better then I feel certain that the attentive staff would be happy to arrange a picnic lunch to take to the park. Have some free time and want to brush up on the local...

Savannah has been named One of America's Prettiest Towns by Forbestaveler.com. Counting Savannah's superb garden squares dripping with Spanish moss and its cobbled riverport among the features that make it the loveliest Colonial town in the U.S. No big news to Savannahians but we're happy for the honor bestowed upon our beautiful and historic community. Savannah is full of charming communities  like the Historic and Victorian Districts, Ardsley Park (Savannah's first suburb), historic Gordonston, Baldwin Park and Isle of Hope to name a few.   I guess there aren’t many people who haven’t heard of Paula Deen,  the Emmy Award winning Food Network star and owner of The Lady and Sons restaurant in Savannah, Georgia.  I’ve never driven by her restaurant in the historic district without a line outside, often extending around the corner and down the block.  Paula Deen fans love just can’t get enough of her heavy southern accent saying “Hey Yall”, her many cookbooks or her food network show “Cooking with Paula Deen” and “Paula’s Party”.  Seems like everyone in town either knows Paula, knows someone who knows Paula or just can’t wait to meet Paula! It’s hard to think that there was ever a shy bone in her body to see her now but at one time Paula was actually agorophobic, suffered from panic attacks and was basically house bound. Ori...
