Our beautiful city has made another list.  There is a new book out called "1,000 Places to See in the U.S.A. and Canada Before You Die".  Yet another great reason to live here.  The book classifies Savannah as "a living museum", "America's best walking city", and "an urban masterpiece".  If you live here and haven't made a trip downtown to walk the beautiful squares in awhile, hop in the car and head on down. There are many reasons to love Savannah, but one of the main reasons is access to the ocean and the rivers. Some of the most beautiful properties in Savannah are waterfront or marshview properties. There are many concerns when considering a waterfront property: Is it deepwater? Is it a tidal creek? What size boat can it handle? Does the property have a dock in good repair? A boat hoist? It's not your typical zoo. There aren't any bars, cement floors, or paved pathways. The variety of animals is more limited. However, the animals are in an environment that more closely resembles their natural habitat. In my opinion, it was just as good if not better than some of the bigger typical zoos. It isn't even called a "zoo". It is the Oatland Island Educational Center. You follow animal footprints on asphalt to the start of a 2 mile path through the woods and over a marsh. There are wooden plank bridges and walk ways that appear throughout. On some of the planks, you will notice writing. When St, Patrick's Day rolls around, most people let it pass by. There are a few people who will wear their green if they are Irish and orange if they are Catholic. I have never heard of a place that actually goes all out and celebrates it like they do here in Savannah.There are celebrations starting on the 10th of March and continuing on until the big day. There will be a Tybee Island parade on the 10th. On the 16th, there will be a St. Patty's Day celebration on the River and it will last until the 18th. Each month, we get the monthly non-farm payroll report from the Labor Department. No other piece of news is more closely watched by the markets and the Federal Reserve than this employment data. The report for January showed that the unemployment rate climbed to a four-month high and wage growth was a little slower than expected. Bad news on the economy is good news for mortgage rates.In short, inflation is bad for everyone. Coming from Pennsylvania, I have never been exposed to "communities" or "subdivision". Where I am from, you won't find a subdivision with a community pool or playground.
