The 64th Annual Frances McGahee Youth Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014, beginning at 10 a.m. with the annual parade. This year’s theme is “Play it Forward”. The fun begins at 9:45 a.m., the Roswell Runners Club will host the 18thAnnual Historic Roswell 5K Road Race. The race starts on Mimosa Blvd. in the Roswell Historic District, near the front of the Roswell United Methodist Church (814 Mimosa, Roswell, GA). The race runs along Canton St., turns left on Woodstock, then enters Roswell Area Park where it shifts onto the trail, finishing on the path by the football field in the park. 2014 Rivers Alive, Georgia’s annual river clean-up, comes to North Fulton on September 27, 2014. Sponsored by Keep Roswell Beautiful (KRB), the clean-up will take place from 8:30 to 11 a.m. followed by awards and comments by elected officials at 11:15 at Riverside Park. The event will be held rain or shine. Georgia has more than 70,100 miles of rivers and streams that need your help to stay clean. Individuals, neighborhoods, scout troops, schools, churches, clubs and service organizations are being asked to pull together to make a difference for the Chattahoochee River. Cleanups of the Chattahoochee and surrounding areas will be going on in the week leading up to the event.
