A blight in the 75 year history of the Heisman Earlier today a friend said, "Oh I feel sorry for Reggie Bush."  I nearly flipped my lid.  I don't think for a nano second that Reggie Bush didn't know he was ineligible for the '05 season.  Of course he knew it.  The rules are out there and so many people don't think they are breaking them if they just never get caught. I recently wrote a post about rules here on ActiveRain.  You know the rule about "original content".  People know when they break the rules.  For me, I don't feel sorry for Reggie Bush, I feel sorry for all the other eligible Heisman winners over the years.  From what I read today that space will be left blank and not filled by some other player from 2005.  So I also feel sorry for the other players who were in the running ...

Live theater in the Lake Sinclair area- great family entertainment. One of the first dates I had with my husband was to a Georgia College & State University production.  So every year I look forward to the line up and pick the shows and order my tickets early.  This year is special.  GCSU theater has a new home.  The old "Campus" theater where I saw many a horror flick during my high school and college years will become the Campus Black Box Theatre.  I'm super excited to go back and to get to take Donald with me to the "Campus Theater". This year's theme is: A Southern Celebration: Welcome Home!  And this years line-up includes: To Kill a Mockingbird Steel Magnolias The 1940s Radio Hour Milledgeville Memoirs The Nutcrackers Free Like Br'er Rabbit Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage B...

This listing SOLD, but we have others.  Call me today. 706-485-9668  (yes I currently have some with owner financing) In today's financing market, some of the banks that previously did leasehold property financing have gone out of business.  I've talked with several local lenders who are currently working on "broker packages" to submit to investors to re-establish this type of financing because Georgia Power owns many of the lots on Lake Sinclair and you buy the house, and buy the lease, but continue to lease the land from Georgia Power. The great part about Georgia Power lease lots is size, many of them are larger and with lots more shorline than your average fee simple lot.  For example, my new listing at 119 Webb Road in Baldwin County has 220 feet of shoreline. After a discussion wi...

Baldwin County Airport and SubdivisionI love to fly, I always have.  One of these days I'm going to sign up for flying lessons so that I can drive the plane and not just be a passenger.  But for now, I just ride. But only because I have to do so.  I don't ride in a car with anyone, I insist on being the driver (just ask my husband ) who has riden cross country with me 4 times. If you are a pilot and have a private plane you might want to consider a beautiful subdivision at Lake Sinclair that has an airport.  Now you will not see any 747s landing here and there are no commercial flights in or out, but the airport information can be found here to see if your plane can fly in and out of the Milledgeville Airport.  The Airport Subdivision is on a beautiful part of Lake Sinclair located on n...

Historic Downtown Milledgeville Goergia- Columns and Culture- A wonderful place to call home! In taking an afternoon stroll down the streets of historic downtown Milledgeville last week my husband commented "I wonder how many columns are with a 6 block radius of here?"  It was retorical because, frankly there are too many to count.  There are many streets in the downtown area that are still residential and it's a wonderful place to live.  It's filled with both columns and culture.  Milledgeville is known as the "First Lady of Georgia." It would take more than one day to take it all in there is so much to do and see, but a wonderful place to start is the trolley tour.  Historic downtown Milledgeville is a wonderful place to live filled with stately southern mansions, the historic governo...

Today in our sales meeting we discussed how to make a video for your listings.  Now I've got to tell you the truth.  I just learned how to do this on my computer last week using still pictures.  And, let me give credit where credit is do, I had to get one of my agetns (Thank you Ande Herren) to show me how to do this.  Ande was shown how to do this by his 13 year old daughter. (Thank you Taylor).  I was amazed by how simple it was to do.  We used Windows Movie maker, which I did not even know was on my computer until about two weeks ago, to insert the pictures of one of our homes onto the maker page.  Then we used their standard screen change images to transition between slides.  Then we added credits to the end with company info.  If you're a Georgia Realtor remember that the GREC chan...

In today's sales meeting we discussed social media and this will be the topic for our next several sales meeting.  I learned several weeks ago that the Japanese word for "crisis" literlly translates into the word "dangerous opportuniy".  I found this very interesting because the Japanese look at a crisis as an opportunity rather than a problem.  That is todays real estate market.  Let's face it, the market is in crisis.  But if you look at it correctly, this could be a great opportunity.  For many years now, most real estate companies have spent big bucks on print advertising.  Many of us agents included, thought that real estate books or home finder guides were the only way to advertise our listings.  In the crunch of todays real estate market, many companies and agents are having to t...

I bet most of you could guess that Georgia's state song is Georgia on my mind, but the other bit of "trivia" that I am going to share with you today I bet none of you will actually have known this before you read it.  If any of you did, let me know.  I'll be surprised, but of course I'll take your word for it. Milledgeville Georgia- County Seat of Baldwin County that borders beautiful Lake Sinclair was THE ONLY city ever built exclusively to be a state capital.  I'm sure many of you might have know that Atlanta Georgia was not always our capital.  Milledgeville Georgia served as the capital from 1808 to 1868.  You can tour the former Governor's mansion which also at one time served as the residence for the dean of Georgia State College and University.   You can also tour the Old Capital...

If you ever read my blog before you might know that I adore my nearly perfect husband.  Last Thursday after a particularly stressful day at the office that ended with an agent finding one of her listing left unsecured by another agent being the 5:01 issue... my sweet husband showed up at the office to go take down one of my signs and take me to our weekly "date night". There's a new place in downtown Milledgeville, which is actually filled with a wonderful array of dining, called the Asian Bar and Grill.  For those of you familiar with downtown Milledgeville it's three doors left of "The Brick".  If you haven't been downtown in a long time, it's below my old college hangout "The Opera House".  We were greeted and seated promptly and it's decor is really nice.  They have a huge fish tank...

It's super hard to imagine that I've been eating at this place for over 5 years.  It still seems new, fresh and exciting for the rural part of Georgia I live in.  The first time I ate there was for my birthday in 2005.  On that very first visit, we had Spider-man Peter Parker for our chef.  Peter has kept us coming back time and time again.  He's like family and we are not alone in thinking so.  The last time we dined there we asked for Peter and were told there was another couple waiting for him as well, so as long as we were just 6 guests it would be fine.  We were 5 that night and thankfully had a very short wait. They do take reservations, but not on Friday and Saturday.  We ate there for Abigail's birthday dinner.  Peter has always been fond of Abigail and she of him as well.  We a...

I would like to go ahead and apologize to any one who reads this.  I have had this Active Rain account for months and have yet to really take the time to learn how to use it.  So today is the day that I have dedicated myself to sitting down at the computer and learning how to use Active Rain.  I just wrote this really nice blog about the market in my area and it got lost in cyber space.  So until I figure out how this works, I'm going to keep these short. Is there a blogging group "Active Rain for Dummies"  Binion

This is one of stories that is so fun and amazing and I'm in such a hurry to share that you'll have to forgive all the run on sentences and errors.Yesterday I re-blogged  Cynthia Tilghman's post about Golden Corral Military appreciation day.   It seemed fitting that since I was clicking on the link to read her post at the same time an agent in my office was telling me about this wonderful thing Golden Corral does that I give her the credit she deserves and still get the word out in my area.  Well my husband and I decided even though we knew it would be crowed and we'd have to wait to brave the cold and head there for dinner.  What we found was AMAZING.  Simply AMAZING!First off, I called my local Golden Corral and asked them what type of ID my husband would need to bring.  NONE They jus...

This weekend Milledgeville Georgia will hold it's 5th Annual Sweetwater Festival.  Last year this even drew over 150,000 people to downtown Milledgeville, Georgia.  The cost is just $5.00 durning  the day and $15 for the evening events.  Lots of bands, merchants, food and most of all lots of great times.  Hop on over and read the story about Milledgeville celebrating it's past, present and future and the story about the sweet waters of the Oconee River that settled the town of Milledgeville (Previous capital of Georgia) The city is beautiful and now that sweet water of the Oconee River provides a wonderful 15,000+ acre recreational lake built by Georgia Power, Lake Sinclair.  You will see just how beautiful our lake is and want to visit frequently or relocate to this beautiful and thriv...
